The Position

Under general direction of the Physical damage Manager, is responsible for support and direction of the Physical Damage Department, including, Field Property Damage Appraisers, Direct Repair Program staff and Inside Desk Review staff as well as provide support to other disciplines of the business.

SUMMARY

The ideal candidate is responsible for providing effective leadership to meet the claim service needs of customers, including clearly communicating Corporate/Claim Department goals and objectives. The Physical Damage Supervisor continually seeks out areas of opportunities, recommends improvements, and implements change initiatives to achieve high performance. They will inspire and motivate their team to achieve optimal performance and skill development utilizing best practices in talent management. This position will manage entry level to experienced claim professionals in a virtual work environment with staff in multiple states. The candidate is accountable for creating an environment which supports an inclusive and diverse work environment through leadership. They will work collaboratively with other departments to help the organization achieve higher levels of quality and functional expertise.

PRIMARY

- Manage staff performance; implement strategies and plans to address staff development; identify and address training needs on an ongoing basis; provide frequent performance feedback.

- Effectively utilize reward system to distinguish top performers and significant achievements. Holds staff accountable, creates and sustains a dynamic workplace.

- Work with management to develop and implement effective training, performance development and succession planning.

- Employ proper claim handling techniques to protect the integrity of our brand and providing consistent superior service quality and streamlined processes to add value for our customers.

- Provide face-to-face and written guidance to team members to ensure effectiveness, engagement, accuracy and efficiency.

- Conduct quality file reviews per office/ best practices guidelines.

- Implement strategies and initiatives to improve file quality, customer service and cost management.

- Successfully leverage data, management information and technology to identify and make the most of opportunities to support business strategies and improve results.

- Focus on resolution and process improvement, fulfilling all obligations while maximizing cost effectiveness, helping the business understand drivers, trends and product stress points and helping our partners attract and retain business.

- Develop and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, business partners, customers, agents, regulatory agencies and others to achieve organizational goals.

- Participate in business meetings and agency visits as required. (some travel required)

- Occasional catastrophe duty, including assisting other offices and states as necessary. (some travel required)

- Acquire and maintain licensing/continuing education in any states where we conduct business.

- Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills Abilities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum 4 yr degree or equivalent work experience

- Minimum of 5 year claims experience across multiple disciplines

- Critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills

- Effective oral, written communication skills

- Decision making ability and customer service orientation

- Ability to express oneself effectively over the telephone and exhibit good interpersonal and service oriented skills when interacting with others

- Strong computer skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 1 - 2 years supervisory experience

- 3 years physical damage appraisal experience

- Experience in an automobile repair environment

As a condition of employment, the candidate must possess and maintain:

- A current Arizona Driver's License

- Appropriate adjuster licenses (acquire within 90 days of hire date)
