Role Synopsis
Baker Hughes RD is looking for a Physical Chemist (Surfactant, Nano Engineering Expertise) to join their team. This candidate will be based at the Sugar Land, Texas location.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Plans and conducts research, develops and executes phases of larger projects or multiple projects of moderate to higher complexity.
May be lead scientist on challenging projects with some functional supervision.
May participate in vendor interface.
Plans, conducts and supervises assignments.
Need to intereact with marketing, operational and sales units
Reviews progress and evaluates results.
May supervise personnel.
May work closely with sales to help support customer.
Assists in project planning and review.
Operates with some latitude in making autonomous decisions.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Scientific discipline with 6+ years of experience, or Master's Degree and 4-6 years of experience, or PhD and 2-4 years of experience.
Expertise in surfactant dispersions chemistry
Experienced in testing analytical or engineered designed technologies
Profound knowledge and experience on micro- and nano- dispersions and emulsions
Expertise in lab testing methodologies
Able to create new design methods to test emulsions and dispersions
High analytical skills required: surface area measurements, zeta potential measurements on particles; surface area measurements, FTIR spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, NMR, laser scattering techniques, particle size measurements
Able to use Design of Experiments tools to develop new products
Capable of designing new products for multiple applications
Knowledge on product development scale-up
Perform product field testing to prove its performance and validate its commercialization
Data processing capabilities and computational skills
Capable of working independently as well as team player
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiar with project management tools
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
PhD degree, post-doctoral experience strongly preferred.
Understanding of commercialization is a plus

Domestic and International Travel dependent upon project needs.
