1. Under the supervision of the Director of the Fitness Therapy Center, the Physical Therapist is responsible and held accountable for all activities related to the provision of optimum physical therapy services for inpatients and outpatients.
2. Responsible and accountable for individual physical therapy practice through patient assessment, treatment interventions, and evaluation of patient outcomes.
3. Actively persuades patient towards "health management" vs. "disease management" and encourages lifestyle changes through safe and effective exercise and other therapies. Provides individualized resources to help patients accomplish their goals
4. Strongly focuses on patient education, in terms they can understand and within their paradigm to maximize their ability to comply with home exercises and self-care instruction. Particular emphasis is paid to improving each patient's functional ability.
5. Accurately and completely documents all aspects of care provided in compliance with regulatory standards.
6. Actively markets our physical therapy services to patients, physicians and women in the community via excellent customer care, face to face marketing and other appropriate tools
7. Assists the Director in the revision of patient education materials, documentation tools and policies as needed.
8. Understands her larger role in meeting the business goals of the department by focusing on productivity, improving efficiency and controlling costs. Actively participates in the "business side" via understanding and acting on patient scheduling, patient education for no-shows and cancellations etc.
9. Fulfills the duty and responsibility to maintain competence and to continue personal and professional growth.
10. Identifies and assists with opportunities for performance improvement activities on the unit and with other service areas.
11. Accurately and completely documents all aspects of care given.
12. Recognizes the purpose of employment is to prioritize the patient as number one.
13. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by taking ownership of time management, decreasing waste (of time and supplies) and promoting cost effectiveness while maintaining patient safety and quality of care.
14. Demonstrates the ability to be an advocate for and strive to protect the health, safety and rights of the patient.
15. Interactions with patients and colleagues demonstrate compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth, and uniqueness of every individual, unrestricted by considerations of social or economic status or cultural beliefs.

20. Other duties as assigned JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education required and/or preferred:
REQUIRED: B.S degree or higher from an accredited physical therapy program
PREFERRED: Strong manual therapy skills in an "orthopedic" setting and/or experience/training in women's health
Licensure/Certification
REQUIRED: Texas physical therapy license - current and in good standing
PREFERRED : Women's health Certification (WHS) and/or Lymphedema Certification and/or CAPP - Pelvic (Certification of Achievement in Pelvic Physical therapy) and/or CAPP - OB (Certificate of Achievement in Prenatal/Postpartum) by the Section on Women's Health, APTA or equivalent via the Herman Wallace Institute
Current BCLS preferred
Experience required or preferred:
PREFERRED: Two years in an orthopedic or women's health setting with strong emphasis on
manual therapy
