Job Description
Under general supervision, provides evaluations and comprehensive skilled patient care to inpatients and outpatients to restore function and prevent disability following disease or injury. Helps patients reach their maximum functional performance and assume a place in society while learning to live within the limits of their disability. Participates in health and wellness promotion.
Demonstrates mature, professional behavior and good interpersonal skills. Must be able to regularly perform work at the heavy physical demand level. Understands the developmental needs of the various populations. Essential Mental Demands. Requires intense attention and concentration. Good visual, verbal, and hearing skills. Ability to deal with a wide range of personality types and ages is necessary. Ability to deal with diverse cultural backgrounds (Le. Southeast Asian, Greek, Hispanic). Manual Dexterity Required. Ability to complete documentation, manipulate equipment (Le. Physical Therapy modalities, treadmill, computer), and complete direct patient care. External and internal applicants, as well as, position incumbents who become disabled, must be able to perform the essential job functions (listed within each job specific responsibility) either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined by the organization on a case-by-case basis.
EDUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS and/or REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED
Registration or registration pending, from the Massachusetts Board of registration in Allied Health Professions. Licensed in the State of Massachusetts as a PT, or a person admitted to the examination for licensure, who may practice between the date of filing an application for licensure and the exam results, under the direct supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist until licensure is granted following a passing score on the licensing exam. Current CPR, which can be acquired on the job.
