Job Description:
Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
Provides a full range of family practice services and consultation services to patients at the clinic. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of the patient/customer's status. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the population served in the department.
Essential Job Functions:
• Provides medical services and health education to patients and their families. Effectively contributes to the health education of individuals and groups and applies appropriate methods designed to increase each person’s motivation to assume responsibility for their own (or dependents) health care.
• Assess, diagnoses and treats patients in the according to medical staff approved protocol and acceptable standards of practice.
• Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to written, approved protocols.
• Secures, records and evaluates the health, psychosocial and developmental history of patients, performs physician examinations using techniques of observation, inspection, auscultation, palpitation and percussion, order laboratory and X ray studies, orders prescription drugs under acceptable standards of practice, management of common or chronic illnesses.
• Interprets information gathered during the diagnostic process and consults with collaborating specialists if necessary to formulate and initiate acceptable care.
• Collaborates with clinic and hospital personnel to promote quality care for patients. Assures that appropriate referrals are made for patients. Provides quality care for patients, demonstrates appropriate health, safety and septic practices.
• Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care. Understands, applies and supports practice policies, procedures, goals and standards. Effectively provides patient instruction related to environment of care and safety standards. Follows at all times procedures, policies and standards of the facility. Effectively contributes to the development and attainment of physician practice goals.
• Expected to participate in marketing and publicity efforts as coordinated by Clinic director, VP and marketing department.
• Actively participate in coding review quarterly.
• Completion of work responsibilities and associated documentation according to established standards, including timeliness, completeness, accuracy and legibility. Each PA or NP is responsible for knowing the medicare requirements for appropriate documentation guideline support of a given level of service. Dictation/documentation must be completed within 48 hours of the patient encounter.
• A professional appearance is expected.
• All providers are expected to adhere to strict standards of confidentiality and to encourage other physicians and staff to adhere to confidentiality rules and policies.
• Be familiar with professional codes of ethics and conduct and to behave in accordance with such standards.

AN ideal candidate will have:
~ Current Physician Assistant license.
Licenses/Certificates:
~ SD or another state PA license
~ ACLS, CPR
Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.
