Responsibilities

The physician is responsible to render medical services to the Universitys student population in accordance with the highest standards of medical practice. This will include evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of illness in a professional manner with particular emphasis on empathetic, patient-centered care.

The clinician responsibilities fall into two major categories: clinical care of the patients (90 total time) and other duties (10). Patient care can be broken down to the history and physical exam, differential diagnosis, the appropriate tests and treatment coupled with the education of the student on their illness and health promotion. The follow up care consists of reviewing labs, other diagnostic tests, consultation reports and contacting the students with their results. All of the above are required to be documented in the electronic medical record.

Supervision and assistance to all the health care staff, quality assessment, attending administrative meetings, on call and weekend coverage as well as other duties assigned by the Medical Director rounds out the requirements of the job in the health center.

Qualifications

The major challenges for a physician at the University Health and Counseling Services are: To maintain fiscal responsibility, ensuring that care is given in the most expeditious, cost effective manner; to ensure continuity of care through appropriate and timely follow-up; to foster an environment that facilitates professional collaboration among colleagues; to demonstrate awareness of the comprehensive needs of the clinic and university; to assume leadership in establishing priorities, managing resources and modifying the environment to meet the changing needs of the clinic and to lastly be student-centered in our approach to care.

M.D. licensed to practice in Massachusetts.
Board Certified/Eligible in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or Pediatrics.
1-3 years experience in primary care or adolescent medicine (including GYN).
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Fluent in Mandarin Chinese would be a plus

Additional Information

The clinical position is a thirty-five hour position, which includes evening hours and four hours one Saturday a month.
