The VA Medical Center of Salem, Virginia is located adjacent to Roanoke which has natural beauty and many summit features such as the Roanoke Star and its overlook of the Roanoke Valley, the Mill Mountain Zoo, and many outdoor pursuits such as the Appalachian Trail and Blue Ridge Parkway which run through this area.
The Veterans Affairs medical Center in Salem, Virginia is recruiting for full-time Primary Care/Family Practice Physicians with a strong background in Internal Medicine. The position will be located in Staunton, Virginia at the Community Based Outpatient Center (CBOC) but is under the supervision of the Salem VA Medical Center's Primary Care Service Line.
* Salary is determined by the Compensation Panel based on qualifications, education and experience.

DUTIES:
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provides comprehensive medical and selected services for outpatients.
- Provides patient care to veterans in the area of Internal Medicine in the form of primary care and/or consultative care.
- Provides medical diagnostic evaluation and initial assessment of patients which includes focused history, physical examinations and pertinent laboratory investigations.
- Discussion of treatment plans with patients and/or family members.
- KEY REQUIREMENTS

- Designated and/or Random Drug Testing
- Full, current unrestricted Licensure.
- Background and/or Security Investigation
- Must pass Pre-Employment Examination

Required Qualifications:
- Must be U.S. Citizen (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
- Must be proficient in the English language.
- Must be board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.
- Must possess excellent clinical and administrative skills.
- Must have Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree resulting in a course of education in medicine.
- Must have a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
