Qualifications:

POSITION SUMMARY:
Supervisor plans and executes work required to fabricate Sapphire wafers in accordance with customer demand and quality requirements. Process steps include multiple automated precision machining steps, laser marking, x-ray crystallographic measurements, acid cleaning and related metrology inspection. Supervisor manages staff work schedules and promotes a highly efficient, organized and safe work environment. Supervisor will work closely with management, engineering and RD resources to continually improve the process. He / She will be responsible to help scale pilot processes up to high volume manufacturing while meeting weekly build requirements. After training, must be willing and able to operate all the equipment in area of responsibility as required.

KEY RESPONCIBILITIES:
• Set example in all aspects of maintaining a safe and orderly (5S) work environment.
• Take “ownership” of pilot line so that safety, quality and productivity objectives are achieved.
• Review and approve production build requests. Verify operators producing to print / specs.
• Communicate daily priorities effectively with subordinates and verify their completion.
• Develop means to track progress of work thru each step of manufacturing process.
• Work with diamond wheel and other suppliers to optimize design and reduce lead-time and expense.
• With engineering / QC support, direct internal or external resources relative to performing equipment maintenance, upgrades and calibrations as required to ensure operational readiness.
• Develop or modify SOP’s and perform operator training. Develop testing to verify effectiveness of training. Cross train staff for maximum flexibility and job satisfaction.
• Participate in technical problem solving and root cause analysis.
• Implements solutions that reduce scrap, improve yields, reduce cycle times and lower consumable expenses.
• Organization of machine CNC program storage and the associated revision controls.
• Maintains consumable drawings, MSDS and inventory levels.
• Maintains OEM contacts, schedules repairs and make recommendations for future upgrades or replacement. Utilizes PICS system.
• Develops recommended spare parts list for each operation and procures appropriate levels to minimize downtime.

ESTIMATED TIME ALLOCATION:
50% Pilot line supervision to meet weekly internal and external customer requirements
20% Process development / optimization to reach capacity, yield and cost objectives
15% Equipment operation. Maintenance- Proactive and reactive.
10% Staff training and HR related activities. Record keeping
5% Safety, 5S, meetings and ISO related activities

COMPETENCIES:
Minimum of 5 years of work experience supervising and supporting machining related manufacturing processes. BS degree in technical or management discipline. Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask is a must. Comprehensive machine tool experience with proven ability to lead a multi shift operation. The successful candidate will have a history of continuously improving operations in his/her areas of responsibility. Seeking candidate with competency in precision grinding and experienced with automated tools and related metrology. Ability to understand and fabricate to detailed drawings. Experience with high volume manufacturing and the detail required to maintain product consistency is required. Product will be fabricated by semi skilled, non technical trained personnel.
