Piping Designer Job in Edmonton, Alberta Canada

Design Group is currently recruiting for an Intermediate / Senior PIPING DESIGNER for our local EPC client..

 

Minimum Qualifications:

·       A recognized degree or diploma in an engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university, OR a professional license in an appropriate engineering discipline from a recognized licensing board, OR;

·       Sufficient number of specialized courses in relevant general engineering or appropriate engineering disciplines to meet job requirements, AND;

·       Practical work experience in design engineering or relevant equivalent experience in allied types of engineering sufficient to demonstrate competence as a trained engineer.

·       Excellent communication skills (Oral and Written).

·       Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards.

·       Intermediate to advanced computer skills.

 

Typical Responsibilities:

·       Prepares and/or develops 2-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) process piping drawings from design concepts by senior designer/engineer within the discipline or from design documents of the front-end disciplines.

·       Prepares portions of 3-D CAD design model under the supervision of experienced designers.

·       Reviews and checks calculations, design models, drawings and design documents prepared by others in the group and by material suppliers, as assigned.

·       Prepares bulk material quantity takeoffs and material requisitions for materials applicable to the discipline.

·       Is responsible for the accuracy of bulk material quantity take-offs and material requisitions for materials applicable to the discipline.

·       Works with designers in other disciplines in the overall assignment to coordinate designs.

·       May develops work plans, budgets, and schedules for basic designer tasks based on input and direction from supervisor in designated discipline when assigned.

·       Answers questions from client or construction group on design for assigned responsibility.

·       Compiles, maintains and accesses job drawing files, records, and drawing controls, as instructed.

·       Prepares design calculations used in the discipline.

·       Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

·       Ensures compliance with approved design standards in own work and by those assigned, to provide quality design.
