Job Summary:

  • Work with principal designers and engineers to help develop all aspects of a project
  • Interface with engineers and design leads from other disciplines
  • Interface with the client and other disciplines at project meetings
  • Interface with the client and contractors during construction
  • Apply experience drafting and basic knowledge to the following:

  • Create drawing area layout and index
  • Formulate project drawing list
  • Layout pumps.
  • Layout horizontal vessels
  • Layout heat exchangers
  • Understand insulation and piping requirements for its installation
  • Understand hydrotest requirements and impact to drawing
  • Develop piping transposition
  • Understand and layout underground piping systems
  • Understand and layout non-steel piping systems
  • Understand and layout firewater systems
  • Understand and layout relief and vapor recovery systems
  • Perform steam tracing design
  • Layout utility stations
  • Layout compressors
  • Understand and perform all modes of drawing checking
  • Understand importance of Vendor information
  • Create pipeline drawings
  • Understand tie-ins and their requirements and develop tie-in lists.
  • Locate "field" or "field-fit" welds on isos
  • Understand and apply survey information.
  • Do off-plot routing drawings and all associated details
  • Perform a complete check on all or any drawings in the drawing package
  • Draw pipe way general layout drawings
  • Interface with clients on technical terms
  • Estimate job man-hours and schedule accurately
  • Track progress of job from schedule and cost standpoint
  • Communicate job requirements and design intent to subordinates
  • Motivate team members and be an impartial decision maker
  • Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Prefer a 2 year college degree or greater from an accredited university (however, not required)
  • 7-10 years experience as a Mechanical / Piping Designer working in the oil and gas industry
  • Efficient in AutoCAD, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Preferred Software experience includes Microstation, Solidworks, 3D, and CADworx
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A desire to learn and work in a team environment with a positive attitude
  • U.S. Citizen or have legal right to work in the USA without sponsorship
  • Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a drug screening and background check
