Planning and Costing Manager

 

Alstom Wind North America is currently seeking an experience Planning and Costing Manager to develop and lead the Planning and Project Control/Costing organization in Wind Business Americas. Enable the business to bid and deliver Wind projects on time and on budget.

 

Duties

 

§  Coordination and interaction with, including but not limited to, sales, finance, legal, sourcing, project management, engineering and production in local and global organization.

§  Close cooperation with Wind Planning and Control organizations in China, Spain and elsewhere to develop a fully integrated approach for planning and control systems to assure on time delivery of all equipment components and control of all project execution.

§  Close cooperation with vendors and Alstom manufacturing to assure clear and seamless exchange of information and time control of all manufactured components.

§  Close cooperation with Sales Tendering and Project Management to assure successful execution of tenders and projects, on time and on budget.

§  Coordination with Management and Projects of all project planning and schedule reporting to allow accurate information flow to the project and to management enabling excellent decision making. 

 

Responsibilities

§  Set up and lead the Project Planning and Control/Costing, including recruiting new staff and staff training;

§  In cooperation with global teams establish a disciplined business process and analytic framework to effectively plan and execute supply chain, manufacturing and projects through policies, procedures, management tools, reports, key hires, and training.

§ Direct all planning for tendering, sourcing, manufacturing and project work including quantities costing, schedule control, change order management and related cash flow- and cost analysis.

§ Ensure that clear reporting is implemented and all phases of engineering, manufacturing and project execution are clearly tracked and reported via metrics and project reporting.

§  During the startup of the Alstom Wind Americas business, estimating support will be supplied to Sales and Tendering.

§  Create an Executive Dashboard providing a high-level snapshot of key project and business drivers.

 

§  Continuous development and management of Planning and Control for cost-saving and quality improvement.

§  Implement a Planning and Scheduling process to ensure timely completion of all projects according to the contract.

§  Establish appropriate processes and reporting in line with ALSTOM requirements.

 

Accountabilities

§  On Time delivery of all Engineering, manufactured components, and project contract deliverables.

§  Clear and accurate Planning and Schedule reporting across the entire Wind Americas portfolio of projects.

§   Integration of all Planning and Scheduling with Global Wind organizations to assure optimization of resources. 

Provide forward leadership to ensure that Wind Americas Planning and scheduling requirements for the next 3 to 5 years are met.

 

Measurement

§  On time delivery of equipment and projects

§  Monitoring of claims and change orders

§  Monthly Planning metrics on all phases of the business to ensure on time delivery and to optimize all resources and equipment.

Educational Requirements

 

Masters or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Sourcing, Finance or Economics

Certification in planning, quantity surveying and project management preferred.

 

Knowledge / Experience

 

§  Proven track record in the Management of Planning and Scheduling industrial goods and projects in the U.S., preferably in the field of power generation.

§  International business experience and comfortable to work in multinational companies.

§  Good technical skills and knowledge of sourcing best practices.

§  Strong and fact based negotiator.

§  Alstom knowledge is a benefit.

Must have Primavera Software Experience.
