Our business is the exploration, production, refining, trading and distribution of energy. Trading is our face to the traded markets in oil, gas, power, chemicals and finance.

Role synopsis:
Trading comprises Global Oil businesses and two regional Gas businesses. GTEL is a regional gas business for our North Atlantic gas and power basin, supporting EP in the sale of equity gas and Global LNG. GTEL also manages the long term gas contract portfolio. GTEL has the following core activities:
- Trading and wholesale of gas in the UK and Europe with power trading activities supporting the gas business.
- Optimisation and trading of our Global LNG portfolio.
- Managing our carbon emission trading activities.
- Southern European marketing businesses (Spain Italy).

The Planning Performance team’s responsibilities are:
- Supports the Regional CFO and GTEL LT by providing useful MI on financial performance to give insights that drive value.
- Supports the GTEL CFO in the development and monitoring of GTEL’s financial framework.
- Coordination and submission of the plan, GFO and GFR.
- Support to the GTEL LT for OPR’s and other Face to Face meetings.
- Works effectively with the Central PPM team and BMI operations to ensure seamless and coordinated input to key PPM processes (plan, GFRs, OPRs etc)

The PPM team is instrumental in providing quality information that is used by leadership to monitor. control and drive business value.

Key accountabilities:
This role will report directly to the Regional CFO for GTEL and its focus is primarily on overall GTEL activities.

- Lead the GTEL PPM team of 4 (GTEL, LNG and GTE Analysts), managing priorities and resource requirements. Attract, develop and coach to ensure a high level of professionalism, technical expertise and delivery.
- Support the development of GTEL’s financial framework and Strategy refreshes and on-going monitoring.
- Lead GTEL annual plan process and in year forecasting.
- Lead co-ordination and consolidation of GTEL’s GFR’s submitted to EP segment.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the Central PPM teams and BMI in Product Control.
- Support the GTEL Business Manager for the Quarterly OPR with COO, other executive visits and performance notes.
- Supporting GTEL on ad-hoc projects as they appear e.g. LNG Post Implementation Review, MA activity.
- Owner of GTEL’s MI system (Minerva) providing support to other Performance Analysts and key contact for Minerva support team.
- Supporting the Head of PPM in functional sign-offs on new GTEL activities.
- Active participation in the PPM Transformation agenda; driving changes to processes and systems in order to improve the quality of performance reporting activity across GTEL PPM.

Essential education:
- Education to degree level.
- A recognised national or international professional accountant qualification or qualification by experience is desirable.

Essential experience and job requirements:
- strong strategic MI finance leader.
- Commercially focussed.
- Experience of managing a team.
- Ability to meet consistently challenging and tight deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
- In-depth understanding of financial control reporting requirements.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, including ability to articulate complex issues.
- Knowledge of PPM processes desirable.
- Knowledge of Gas or Oil businesses desirable.
