Planning Project Manager, Product Transfers
Within the Janssen Supply Chain, Product Management is responsible for assessing integrating new business opportunities, successfully launching new products, ensuring their availability, and optimizing the supply chain performance throughout the product life cycle. One of the critical processes is the transfer of products between internal and/or external manufacturing sites.
We are now recruiting for a Planning Project Manager, Product Transfers, to be located in one of the Janssen Supply Chain sites in the US or Europe.
Roles Responsibilities
The Planning Project Manager is responsible and accountable for all planning aspects of product transfers, taking into account the strategies and objectives of the Global Sourcing Committee. Develop a compliant end to end supply chain for products being transferred, including their successful launch by the new Plant to the global commercial markets, by coordinating the execution of key functional group activities. The planning project manager provides regular updates to the project team, production plants, finance, affiliate services, transport management, and graphic services on the status of the transfer activities to asses impact on supply, budget and capacity. The planning project manager is the key contact to coordinate global supply chain activities with various stakeholders such as: Global/Regional Commercial Organizations, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing Plants, Affiliates, etc. Risks are proactively managed, scenarios identified and processes developed to guarantee sustainable supply chain during the transfer phase. While leading and representing JSC on the various transfer project teams, the planning project manager is the key contact to coordinate and communicate the global supply chain design and transfer activities with the various stakeholders.
The Planning Project Manager, Product Transfers:
- Develops a transfer plan to coordinate the supply chain activities during the transfer phase by managing the overall flows (physical, QA/QC and financial). Influences and collaborates with Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance and Compliance, Finance, Commercial to set the strategy that balances the customer requirements and cost while meeting the regulatory, compliance and quality requirements. Distribution and import/export requirements must also be defined and accounted for in the plan. Keeps track of the regulatory timelines and provides transparency and clear goal setting within the functional teams to ensure transfer readiness and continuity of supply in the global markets. Develops and recommends strategies to support a smooth and lean transfer by actively challenging and proactively managing risk-based mitigation/improvement plans. The plan must include requirements for API, bulk product, packaging and inventory strategies.
- Leads Business Plan and Strategic Plan updates. Coordinates capacity modeling as required.
- Follows up on approval status of the countries and assess impact on the transfer plan.
- Leads supply meetings with sending receiving plant to discuss last orders from the sending plant and first orders from the receiving plant.
- Leads the creation and execution of risk assessement and transfer inventory strategy and its approval by senior management, including monitoring and maintaining them with mitigation plans and including scenario planning as commercial, regulory or supply challenges emerge.
- Influences and monitors decisions on secondary packaging development and manages SKU rationalization within the product mix strategy as per commercial requirements and based on regulatory compliance.
- Leads the mock up process for EMEA and US filings and ensure timelines are met. Ensures availability of registration samples as per regulatory requirement.
- Generates BOM (Bill of Material) report and collects technical data from the sending plant for review by the receiving plant. Collects technical input from the receiving plant, asseses impact for regulatory, marketing and informs and discuss possible changes on dimensions with the different customers involved in the project.
- Leads the set up of an end to end transportation and distribution strategy as per regulatory requirements and quality compliance.
- Collects information on products in scope and the operational forecast to be shared with the new plant at the start of the project. The project manger ensures an adecuate production plan, including accurate set up of the flows and codes in our logistic systems to allow manufacturing to run their planning schedule.
- Builds and leads communication to affiliates/plants to execute the transfer project in line with approval timelines, technical readiness of the receiving plant and customer requirements. Builds strong partnerships and provides leadership to challenge and influence stakeholder requirements and optimize Supply Chain management processes globally. Ensures that the transfer execution phase process is followed.
- Triggers and follows up artwork creation in line with transfer timeline. Escalation of issues in case transfer timelines are at risk.
- Ensures systems set up is done and operational demand is correctly visible for both sending and receiving plant.
- Closely monitors first delivery from the new site. Must actively understand and convert demand requirements into a supply plan for the plants planning and production group.
- Manages the supply and demand of transferring products until first order from the new site has been delivered. Manages stock-build planning if required based on transfer timelines taking into account customer requirements and capacity limits of the manufacturing plant.
- Communicates effectively across disciplines and companies to keep management and key stakeholders informed of project status, issues, conflicts, and mitigating actions as necessary. Collaborates and influences the stakeholders senior management, if necessary. Interacts with other functional groups in JSC and with PDMS, PGSM, Regulatory Affairs, Business Development, and Commercial Companies. Is the key Supply Chain representative and a key member and partner to the Core team. Active participation in the core team meetings ensuring the supply chain requirements are developed and implemented.
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Logistics or Business Administration is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Supply chain certification preferred (e.g. APICS…).
- A minimum of 8 years of work experience in several of the following areas: Manufacturing, Planning, Customer Service, Distribution, Quality and/or Technical Service Support is required.
- At least 3 years of experience within the Pharmaceutical industry is required.
- Good knowledge of supply chain management, scenario analysis, risk management, pharmaceutical product development, regulatory process, sales and operation planning.
- Strong project management skills are required. Able to manage several projects in parallel within a matrix organization.
- Able to manage complex supply chains issues.
- Strong collaboration and partnering skills.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- This position will require at least 10% travel both global and domestic.
Location: Janssen Supply Chain site in US or Europe.
