As the Planning Supervisor, you will be responsible for planning and preparing production schedules for manufacturing of industrial or commercial products. Other responsibilities include:
- Drawing up master schedules to establish sequence and lead times of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
- Analyzing production specifications and plant capacity data and performing mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools and human resource requirements.
- Planning and scheduling work flow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
- Planning sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
- Conferring with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.
- Expediting operations that delay schedules and altering schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
- Preparing lists of required materials, tools and equipment.
- Preparing purchase orders to obtain materials, tools and equipment.
- Supervising exempt and/or nonexempt associates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
- Must have a minimum of five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have a thorough understanding of planning and forecasting techniques, inventory practices, capacity planning strategies and their applications.
- CPIM certification is preferred
- Must demonstrate solid team leadership abilities
- Must have the ability to read and write complex instructions, correspondence and memos.
- Must have effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to relate effectively with others at all levels of the organization is required.
- Must be proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to multi-task under pressure and manage multiple projects with a high level of accuracy is required
