Responsible for leading the finance activities for the Lynchburg, VA operation and for coordinating the financial reporting for the shared operations/locations for Limitorque in Texas, Kentucky, China and India. Provide leadership to the finance function in Lynchburg, VA, and ensure compliance with Flowserve policies and procedures, SOX internal controls and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Work closely with and support the General Manager with the day to day operation of the business.
Major Accountabilities:
- Provide accurate financial information in compliance with US GAAP and company policies, procedures and controls.
- Maintain an adequate system of internal controls to provide reasonable assurance that assets are protected and results are properly reported. Coordinate periodic review and audit activities and ensure that there are no material weaknesses or significant deficiencies in controls that would require reporting under the Sarbanes Oxley regulations.
- Monitor activity within the facility to ensure compliance with company, divisional and departmental policies, procedures and controls. Continually review and improve internal controls and accounting procedures to assure operations perform to standards and regulations.
- Support and provide management with relevant and timely financial information by serving as a focal point for record keeping and reporting.
- Analyze financial results and identify and communicate deviations from plans and forecast with recommendations for potential solution and improvements to all levels of management. Promote the active use of financial data to drive business success by identifying opportunities to reduce costs and increase efficiencies.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and prepare monthly forecasts for the business, ensuring that they accurately reflect the business and that any gaps are identified early and appropriate actions are taken to improve operational performance.
- Meet all reporting deadlines with comprehensive, accurate, complete and responsive data.
- Search continually for more productive ways of performing the finance functions. Focus on cost reduction and eliminate non-value added activities; automate or streamline processes to accommodate higher levels of productivity while maintaining quality.
- Supervise financial department staff members including accounts payable, account receivable, credit and collections, cost accounting, fixed assets and general ledger transactions.
- Effectively lead and mentor finance and accounting department team members by establishing appropriate staffing levels to support the business, by providing developmental opportunities, and by changing department resources as required.
- Promote professionalism and teamwork operating within a performance-based culture focused always on financial excellence.
- Lead reductions in working capital in order to meet cash flow objectives with primary responsibility for improvements in receivable and payables. Help to champion activities in inventories.
- Ensure that capital appropriation requests are prepared and analyzed properly to ensure that the investment of company funds is optimized.
- Coordinate activities with internal and external auditors.
- Serve as a key member of the local management team, regularly participating in directing the growth and success of the business. Contribute by sharing your financial perspective with the General Manager and other members of the management team.
To qualify, you must have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance. CPA, CMA and/or MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of accounting experience, specifically in the manufacturing environment and 5+ years experience in a management role.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and implementing accounting controls, budgeting and forecasting processes, along with solid business skills to compliment technical accounting and finance skills.
- Strong analytical skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with integrated ERP systems and proficiency in MS Office, mainly Excel. Knowledge of Oracle and Hyperion a plus.
- Travel required is less than 10%
