Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. General Environment/Major or Unusual Problems:

Critical skills and knowledge base includes electrical power and controls engineering, mechanical and facilities engineering, project management skills, and the ability to adapt and think creatively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Building and maintaining excellent working relationships with engineering, quality, production, equipment operators and maintenance personnel is crucial. Leadership in the areas of electrical distribution and control systems, electrical safety, continuous improvement, cost reduction, and innovative problem-solving is required.

  1. Responsibilities and Decision Making Authority:

Responsible for developing and leading multi-disciplinary projects encompassing all aspects of an industrial manufacturing plant, including budget development, project planning and implementation and interaction and management of plant personnel and outside contractors. Primary responsibility will be for all aspects of plant electrical distribution and controls and electrical equipment safety. Day to day work responsibilities will consist of the following:

·         Electrical distribution and control engineering for all capital projects, and some mechanical/plant engineering as necessary to support these projects

·         Planning and implementing multi-disciplinary  projects that may involve personnel from different departments, vendors and outside contractors

·         Budgetary planning and development of future electrical/mechanical/ facility projects

·         Working with maintenance, production and engineering personnel to identify operational or safety issues, and develop appropriate response/action plans as required

·         Assisting electrical maintenance personnel where required to ensure a quick and successful response to equipment breakdowns

·         Identifying preventative maintenance issues on electrical distribution and control systems

·         Maintaining and troubleshooting PLCs

·         Maintaining and troubleshooting AC and DC motor control drives

 

Job Qualifications:

·         BS in electrical engineering with minimum 5 – 10 years working in an industrial environment

·         Strong working knowledge and experience with electrical power distribution systems and industrial controls and processes

·         Working knowledge of plant mechanical systems such as pumps and piping, heating and ventilation, air conditioning systems, structural engineering, power transmission, machine design, etc.

·         Proven experience in successful project management of multi-disciplinary industrial projects with above average budgeting and expenditure control skills

·         Ability to identify and solve problems quickly - critical thinking and problem solving skills a must

·         Works well under pressure and time constraints in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

·         Must be able to develop and maintain good working relationships with other plant personnel from a variety of disciplines as well as vendors and contractors

 

Required Knowledge:

·         Electrical power distribution and controls engineering, with working knowledge of PLC and motor drive controls programming

·         Working knowledge of plant mechanical systems such as pumps and piping, heating and ventilation, air conditioning, structural engineering, power transmission, production machinery operation and maintenance, etc.

·         Good working knowledge of all applicable electrical safety regulations including OSHA and NFPA codes

 

Pluses:

·         GE ‘Proficy’ Machine Edition PLC programming experience

·         Control Techniques AC and DC motor drive control programming experience

·         Wonderware ‘InTouch’ software experience

·         LabView software experience
