Plant Engineer Job in Portsmouth 03804, New Hampshire US

Support ongoing Lonza operations through technical assistance as it relates to plant utility and process systems.  Provide a technical resource to operations customers to ensure that equipment and facilities are designed and operating to meet production needs.

Conduct troubleshooting and technical analyses on utility and process systems.  This includes gathering information from cross functional personnel, monitoring key system parameters, organizing data, identifying problems, evaluating data to recommend solutions and implementing these solutions through the Lonza change control system.

Develop technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical and controls engineering in relation to plant utility and process systems.

Plan and execute plant projects as directed.  This includes preparing scope of work, preparing cost estimate and project justification, preparing all change control documentation, selecting vendors, supervising contractors, coordinating project commissioning and startup, and compiling final project documents for project close-out.

Work with more senior staff on assisting in the planning and execution of larger, more complex projects and engineering problems

Develop project management skills (communication, scheduling, cost control) to coordinate and manage the activities of consultants, vendors and contractors to meet scope, schedule, budget, safety and quality requirements of the capital project.

 Execute Installation Qualification (IQ) on plant and process equipment and system

 Assist Validation with execution of various validation protocols.

Execute Process Change Controls and address responses to CAPAs

Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering or ME preferred

 

 

2-5 Years experience in the technical analysis of operational and design issues within an industrial environment. Biopharmaceutical/process experience preferred, but not required at this level.

 

2-5 Years practical experience in the application of engineering principles to plant  systems

 

2 Years Experience in coordination of outside resources (vendors, consultants) to accomplish engineering objectives.

Excellent Communication Skills     

Ability to effectively communicate via writing and oral communication at all levels.  Express ideas effectively in individual and group situations (including non verbal communication).  Ability to communicate to internal and external personnel.

 

Analysis/Problem Assessment         

Ability to secure relevant information and identify key issues and relationships from a base of information.  Relate and compare data from different sources and identify cause and effect relationships.

 

Technical Knowledge        

Ability to evaluate engineering problems and be able to devise cause and effect relationships and propose solutions.

 

Follow-up             

Ability to keep customers/requesters and management aprised of status of work under your direction.  Ability to maneuaver around hurdles to accomplish goals/tasks

 

Planning/Work Management           

Ability to establish a project plan that outlines the course of action for self and/or others to accomplish a specific goal.  Monitor the activities of consultants, vendors, contractors and internal staff  to insure that resources are allocated properly in order to achieve project goals.
