Plant Maintenance Worker Tracking Code 2012-013 Job Description Job Summary: The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position. Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe systems. Essential Functions: The following description has been provided as examples of the types of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Maintains preventative maintenance database for facility. * Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment. * Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine. * Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts. * Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. * Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment. * Repairs and maintains the physical structure of establishment. * Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools. * Fabricates and repairs benches, partitions, and other wooden structures. * Assists other maintenance personnel. * Overtime as required to support manufacturing. * Performs other duties and assignments as directed. Required Skills Basic Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. * Basic computer knowledge and skills required to maintain preventative maintenance database * Ability to operate a forklift * Ability to operate an overhead crane and hoist * Must be able to comply with specific safety policies, i.e. Confined Space, Lockout Tagout, etc. * Read and understand internal procedures and policies. * Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions * Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.
