Dana Corporation is seeking to fill the position of Plant Manager in the Michigan/Ohio area.

The Plant Manager will lead, drive, and sustain the cultural and technical changes necessary to make Dana a world-class Lean manufacturer. These changes will be required at multiple levels within the organization and will necessitate different approaches and delivery methods while still retaining consistency.

The Plant Manager will:
1. Be responsible for the overall manufacturing operations within the business to include: procurement, supply chain management, manufacturing, assembly, and distribution of all products.
2. Serve as the leader and catalyst for teaching, training, and implementing Lean Enterprise principles, tools, and techniques within the manufacturing organization.
3. Significantly reduce direct costs, improve quality, and shrink inventory.
4. Serve as the leader of the senior management team at their respective location.

This position will report to the Director of Operations for their respective Product Group.

Key Accountabilities:

• Own and lead all manufacturing operations including P L responsibilities
• Responsible for leading the continuous improvement efforts. Establish credibility (through Lean knowledge, business acumen, and franchise-specific knowledge) with executive leadership to influence basic strategy and effective inclusion of long-range improvements to franchise plans
• Create strategic plans to support the long-term profitable growth of the business
• Put metrics in place that have a positive impact on the organization that drives improvements and accountability
• Motivate and supervise the plants workforce
• Manage plant assets associated with improving cost, quality, delivery, and productivity
• Deploy plant processes and systems to ensure world class manufacturing processes are achieved
• Communicate best practices and benchmarks
• Communicate well at all levels within the organization

Position Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree with preference in engineering or a related technical discipline. Business Degrees will be considered, and advanced degrees are a plus.
• Prior Program Management Experience
• Strong working knowledge of quality systems
• The candidate that we seek will have at least 10 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment which supports Toyota Production System principles
• In-depth hands-on knowledge of Toyota Production System principles; training should have been received through a reputable source, i.e., Shingijutsu. Successful candidate will have a proven track record of driving TPS enterprise wide. Lean experience should include the facilitation of multiple kaizen events, using traditional TPS methodology, as well as experience in the use and implementation of the following lean tools: strategy/policy deployment (Hoshin planning), value stream mapping, standard work, 5S, visual controls, TPM, set-up reduction, Kanban, Heijunka, mistake proofing, etc. Project management skills are also desired.

• Self-starter – results-oriented with a record of demonstrated successes accomplished through teamwork
• Have superior communication skills and teaching abilities
• Detail oriented and very hands on in a manufacturing environment
