Career Opportunity: Plant Quality Assurance Manager - Hermiston, OR
Summary
Lead the Hermiston Plant Quality Assurance function and carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include leading all regulatory compliance requirements; training and managing associates; preparing for audits; record-keeping; laboratory management; and in general, functioning as the technical leader for the facility.
Description
Program Administration and Compliance
- Develop / execute programs to comply with Corporate quality requirements, SQF, AIB, labeling, and all other such standards.
- Assure adherence to quality standards, including GMP’s and food safety.
- Work with Product Solutions group on new product development and launch.
- Work with Manufacturing to assure that all proper checks are in place, and communicate on a regular basis regarding quality results.
- Utilize the Quality System to track and monitor compliance to standards.
- Develop and implement record-keeping systems that are compliant with Shearer’s, customer, and government requirements.
- Manage finished product positive release program in conjunction with nonconforming goods data base.
Laboratory Management and Testing
· Assures that analytical, microbiological, and weight checks are done in order to meet quality standards defined by Shearer's Foods, Inc. and its customers.
· Oversees shift PIT testing and reporting.
· Oversees and monitors Lab Technicians.
· Assures that equipment is calibrated and running properly, and associates are trained and certified in proper use.
Other Responsibilities:
· Prepares reports to communicate the results of quality assurance activities.
· Coordinates sample preparation and shipping to Frito Lay Quality Teams, and all others as needed.
· Reviews all purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product.
Essential Requirements
· Four-year degree in food science, science or business with strong college level math and science skills.
· 3 - 5 years of practical experience in a related field within the food industry and some supervisory experience
· Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, and leadership skills.
· Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
· Ability to work a varied schedule, including midnight shift and weekends.
· Ability to perform the essential physical functions of this position, which include prolonged periods of walking, standing, lifting, and maneuvering through a regulated manufacturing environment.
