Polymer Rubber Quality Lab Technician

Our client in the East Cleveland area has an opening in their laboratory performing QC duties. The opportunity is an on-going contract paying $12-15/hr with overtime readily available. The client is evaluating this position where it could develop into a permanent opportunity. Polymer Rubber Quality Technician Summary: Performs laboratory testing on finished products and/or raw materials to determine chemical or physical characteristics or composition of such materials for quality control purposes. Polymer Rubber Quality Technician Duties and Responsibilities: O btain samples of finished product and/or raw materials for assigned testing. Sets up, adjusts and operates all pertinent laboratory equipment and instruments such as rheometers, viscometers, balances or digital scales, ovens and furnaces, two roll mill, and spectrophotometers. Test material physical properties such as state of cure, percent ash, percent moisture, viscosity, density and other characteristics to verify conformity to specifications. Record test results on standard forms. Cleans and calibrates laboratory equipment. Responsible for keeping work areas clean and orderly. Other duties may be assigned from time to time at the discretion of the QCAS Manager. Polymer Rubber Quality Education and/or Experience: HS diploma, some college preferred, or 2-4 years previous experience in a chemical laboratory environment. Basic computer skills required. Polymer Rubber Quality Technician Physical Demands: Though not typically required, this job may require moderate heavy lifting, of up to 25kgs (55 pounds). Walking to receiving areas to retrieve samples and/or place acceptance stickers on raw materials. Long periods of standing. Sometimes works and travels throughout plant environment of varied temperatures and humidity, grasps and holds small objects, uses full range of motion, and wears personal protective equipment, as required.
