Perform sleep studies, monitoring patients during all stages of sleep; trial therapeutic interventions and evaluate their effectiveness with all studies conducted at KPs Sleep Center. Essential Functions: - Measure and observe sleep and EEG dysfunctions by utilizing various monitors simultaneously in a safe and effective manner. This requires use of computerized sleep lab system. - Utilizing protocols developed by Sleep Medical Directors and PSGTs, provide therapeutic interventions for observed sleep dysfunction, measure and evaluate the results of interventions and make necessary adjustments resulting in a prescription for durable medical equipment. - Take a detailed sleep history from the patient and screen patients for appropriateness of testing. Participate in outpatient monthly sleep study reviews. - Educate patients to testing and therapeutic procedures. Maintain an effective rapport with patient to facilitate patient compliance with procedures. Provide appropriate discharge instructions. - Perform safe and correct operation of equipment. Provide required equipment maintenance. Exhibit comprehensive knowledge and skill in interfacing computer-based information system and patient monitoring systems. - Maintain necessary quality and quantity control programs. Utilize a department specific quality assurance program in collaboration with the medical director and supervisor. Periodically review procedures and revise to reflect hanges in practice and standards. - Process all data obtained from sleep studies and analyze data. Prepare standardized report for physician review. - Monitor patients for all life-threatening events. Recognize and obtain medical assistance as required. Record and report all unusual occurrences. Maintain patient records and confidentiality per standard procedure. - Perform other duties as requested Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: - 2 years experience in a polysomnography lab - 2 years experience with diagnostic monitoring - Registered as a Polysomnographic Technologist (R.PSG.T) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist - Current CPR and AED - Thorough knowledge of polysomnography. Polysomnography training. - Comprehensive knowledge of computer applications for diagnostic testing. - Computer operations - Operation of all monitoring systems utilized in sleep lab. - Effective communication skills - Operation of medical gas systems Preferred Qualifications: - A.S. Degree in Health Sciences - Computer operations - 2 years experience with computer-based diagnostic programs - 2 years clinical patient experience - Respiratory Therapy and/or cardiopulmonary technology training. Salary Range- $23.63 - $28.87 per hour
