Portfolio Analyst Job in Kirkland 98033, Washington US

Global investment manager located in Kirkland, WA, is looking for a Portfolio Analyst to join its asset allocation team.  This position will be responsible for reporting on a substantial portfolio that spans all major asset classes and supporting the asset allocation function in analyzing the portfolio and investment strategies.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take the lead on portfolio reporting improvements and innovations and will gain in-depth exposure to a wide array of sophisticated and complex financial instruments.  This is a great opportunity for a team-oriented accounting or finance professional with a demonstrated interest in the investment industry.

Responsibilities:

·         Primary responsibility for production and quality control of critical portfolio and performance reports; including reliably generating recurring reports as well as adeptly fielding ad hoc reporting requests.

·         Continually identify and implement improvements to existing reports and reporting processes.

·         Regularly cross training colleagues and document relevant processes.

·         Collaborate with investment, performance, and IT staff and external partners to evaluate, develop and test new portfolio-related reports/models.

·         Improvements and innovations should seek to accurately estimate and analyze performance and risk relative to benchmarks for equity and fixed income portfolios.

·         Power user responsible for building, testing, and maintaining SQL queries, VBA coding, and administering statistical packages used for portfolio reporting.

·         Identifying and explaining shifts in asset allocation and portfolio metrics.

·         Assist with responding to performance / portfolio risk-related questions that arise from time to time.

·         Partnering with internal investment operations team to quality control portfolio and position level analytics.

·         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Finance or closely related field.

·         Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 1-2 years in an accounting or similar capacity.

·         Proven attention to detail, with a no-tolerance approach to errors; process-minded.

·         Sophisticated technical skills are required, advanced Excel skills are a must, and expertise with SQL, VBA and MS Access are strongly preferred. 

·         Experience with portfolio analytical tools like Factset, SPAR, Barra and custodian systems as well as Bloomberg and any statistical packages is a plus; experience with BlackRock Solutions desired.

·         Preference for candidates with knowledge of fixed-income and global equity markets.

·         Excellent quantitative, problem solving, and analytical skills.

·         Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.

·         Highly professional team player that has the ability to work independently.

·         CIPM and/or CFA designation preferred.
