Tailored to an investment manager's workflow, Portfolio Analytics provides a highly interactive, configurable solution with powerful analytical tools in an easy-to-use graphical framework, enabling global managers to deconstruct a portfolio's sources of return.
We are adding a Data Analyst to the Porfolio Analytics team in San Francisco. Our team has been experiencing significant growth in data coverage and database exposure, thus this analyst is required to ensure content integrity. Our index reconciliation process is extremely thorough to ensure accurate attribution results. Index weights, security pricing, and corporate actions are analyzed to identify discrepancies and make necessary corrections or updates.
Primary responsibilities:
- Daily Reconciliation of index data
- Review reconciliation reports for significant variance between index vendor returns and internally calculated returns.
- Identify and resolve variance by research and change implementation.
- Review vendor corporate actions against those maintain in the internal master database.
- Evaluate security level pricing variances between the index vendor file and those in the internal database.
- Address ad-hoc customer inquiries
- Regarding a security's regional and sector assignment. Research the request via vendor sources and alternate resources including Datastream, Datascope, and the internet
- Elaborating on portfolio attribution and fundamental data. Back building calculations and collaborating with Research team
- Create new tools for data reconciliation; spec out requirements and design for development team to implement
- Specific Special Projects:
- Integrate fixed income instruments to our data universe including indexes. Create quality checks.
- Custom Datafeed Reconciliation. Review returns, composition and overall completeness of datafeed content created by Thomson Reuters for distribution to associated customer.
- Integrate new benchmark and security level data with associated databases
Skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferably in a business-related field or related work experience
- 3-5 years of experience in the financial industry working with security performance and identification
- Working knowledge of SQL
- Spreadsheet experience will be useful for projects and product support
- Understanding of stock classifications and financial statement analysis
- Flexible to work with different data formats and identify data discrepancies
- Familiarity with basic UNIX command line functions a plus
