Portfolio Management – Fixed Income recruitment
BlackRock's Fixed Income team manages more than $1.2 trillion in global fixed income assets across index, active long-only, alternative, and liability driven strategies. The platform offers fixed income investors one of the industry's broadest array of investment choices across index, model-based and fundamental investment styles.
The Business Management team in San Francisco, led by the Fixed Income COO SF, supports the overall management of the department, including strategic planning, budgeting, reviewing improving business processes, supporting new products / instruments, liaising with technology operations departments, and providing key management reporting to senior leadership.
The Business Management Analyst reports to the Vice President of Business Management and will be responsible for coordinating and responding to all internal and external requests and acting on behalf of Fixed Income leadership. Responsibilities include but are not limited to management information reporting, production of presentations and strategic business analyses for Fixed Income. The position requires interaction with senior management in Fixed Income and other departments, including Legal Compliance, Portfolio Compliance, Product Strategy and Operations. This position is a multi-faceted role, which requires a strong working knowledge of Fixed Income and its respective teams and product offerings.
Responsibilities:
- Support Fixed Income management on various projects ensuring timely delivery and quality execution of processes in line with management expectations.
- Presentations - aiding Fixed Income management in organizing and preparing presentations, leading project review meetings, team meetings, regulatory reviews, etc.
- Data Management and Analysis - Compile and synthesize relevant management data such as financials, performance, AUM and trading data. Review department metrics and data to uncover trends, identify issues and ensure accuracy. Pursue initiatives to improve data quality as appropriate.
- Global Coordination Collaboration - working closely with senior management, portfolio managers, and the global trading team on key projects. Developing strong partnerships with BlackRock Solutions and various internal groups such as Portfolio Compliance, Legal Compliance, Equities, BMACS, GCG and Product Strategy. In general, the Analyst should work as a facilitator to help deliver results and also provide strategic / tactical input as required.
- Ad hoc Requests - assisting team with ad hoc data requests, training and demos, business continuity efforts, etc.
Skills Qualifications:
- 1 - 2 years of financial services experience with knowledge of fixed income, product development, business strategy and /or business management functions
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or related field; Masters a plus
- Progress towards or participation in the CFA program a plus
- Advanced skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Visio a plus
- A strong understanding of capital markets and fixed income. Ability to recognize different issue types and structures as they relate to portfolio management and trading
- Strong organizational, planning and time management skills including ability to function effectively within a fast-paced environment and ability to multitask
- Strong financial and quantitative abilities, including attention to detail and affinity for data analysis
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to deliver presentations and coordinate across the firm
- Sound judgment, professionalism and discretion
