Portfolio Manager – Global ex
Primary responsibilities:
- Establishes a portfolio that has the following attributes:
- Liquid Structure – Investment Strategy is managed as a daily NAV 40 Act mutual fund
- Low targeted volatility – annualized volatility (10%)
- Low correlation to other asset classes
- Interest rate hedged – modified duration generally of +/- 3 years
- Employs a variety of hedged trading strategies, such as pairs trades, curve trades, and capital structure arbitrage trades
- Emerging markets represents a significant allocation of risk and return in the portfolio
- Develops own recommendations as well as evaluates investment staff recommendations and approves/initiates new positions and sells for assigned portfolio(s).
- Monitors macroeconomic, fundamental and technical trends within the assigned segment(s) to generate appropriate investment ideas and contribute to asset allocation decisions. Includes interacting with outside investment analysts, brokers, company management, traders, and other resources.
- Responsible for trading/monitoring markets across time zones and regions. Given the global nature of this strategy, the candidate must be willing and able to work evenings and/or early mornings as necessary.
- Participates in client relationship management, sales and marketing initiatives for assigned portfolio(s).
- Participates routinely in meetings regarding portfolios with the Domestic Credit Team and International Equity Teams (developed and emerging markets) to discuss new investment ideas and review fundamental developments of companies, industries, and/or geographic segments.
- Collaborates in the development of new investment strategies.
Knowledge/Experience Required:
- Ideal candidate must possess at least 10 years of long/short portfolio management experience in international markets across a variety of asset classes (credit/rates/currency). Prior Emerging Markets experience is required.
- A demonstrable track record of success trading fixed income securities in relative value strategies (will be required to provide performance data).
- High impact individual with excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and strong presentation skills.
- Confident and driven to be successful, able to think independently and make decisions quickly.
- Must be located in or willing to relocate to Chicago, IL.
- MBA and/or CFA ideal, but not required.
