Debt Capital Markets encompasses the structuring and portfolio management of various debt products for Key Corporate Bank (broad team includes Syndicated Finance, Syndicate Sales, High Grade/High Yield Capital Markets, Private Loan Management, etc.)  Group seamlessly delivers financing solutions for issuing clients.

About the Job 

Actively manages and underwrites a portfolio of leveraged transactions including the financial analysis and preparation of underwriting documents, internal approval, execution, documentation and monthly and quarterly monitoring of financial performance for all existing and new leveraged loans. Works closely with the Leveraged Finance and Corporate Syndication teams.  Engages in discussions with clients and oftentimes private equity firms and is responsible for all matters relating to the debt capital needs of assigned new deals and existing portfolio companies.  Candidate will frequently work with other members of Debt Capital Markets (Syndicated Finance, High Grade/High Yield, etc.) and bankers from the respective Industry Groups, including Financial Sponsors Group.

Essential Job Functions 

• Perform financial analysis and prepare underwriting documents to support complex, multi-million dollar leveraged transactions for new and existing clients.

• Review financial statements, projection models and all other relevant financial and non-financial data to develop a concise analytical foundation for ongoing credit discussions.

• Assist in managing the entire process regarding amendments, waivers and restructurings of existing portfolio clients.

• Review complex transactions and, with team, recommend structures that will accommodate the client, but keep Key's risk/return requirements in mind.

• For assigned clients, ensure timely follow-up for covenant violations; financial statement submission; maturity date renewals; past due reporting, and other portfolio monitoring tools as necessary.

• Working with others in Debt Capital Markets and outside counsel (as needed), negotiate credit documents.

• Actively manage/monitor assigned leveraged portfolio to determine weaknesses in liquidity and earnings trends, management capability and other essential information to maximize the bank's credit position and minimize potential losses.

• Build rapport with portfolio companies as well as with private equity principals; participate in client calling initiatives with industry/financial sponsor bankers as needed.

Required Qualifications 

• 5+ years of corporate, commercial, leveraged finance or investment banking loan structuring.

• Outstanding credit skills, analytical skills, and financial acumen

• Proven understanding of the importance of balancing business development and maintaining asset quality.

• Strong competence in financial modeling, as well as understanding clients' external models. 

• Candidate will need to develop a working knowledge of Key's internal Leveraged Cash Flow model.

• Possess strong knowledge of credit, non-credit and capital markets product capabilities

• Ability to leverage/maintain internal data systems and technology.

• Experience with the loan syndications and capital markets

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related field, MBA preferred

• Superior client relationship and internal partnering skills both internally and externally.

• Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills
