PORTFOLIO MANAGER recruitment
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist the Portfolio Manager Team in day to day portfolio management (portfolio reviews, placing orders etc), monitoring client portfolios in terms of construction/performance.
- Gather and compile investment research on both internal and external funds and products.
- Support Private Bankers based in the Scotland and Northern Ireland region (production of material for pitches, presentations for existing and new accounts).
- Take and resolve client investment related queries and when proficient take and execute client dealing instructions.
- You will take an active part in investment decision-making forums to ensure that core portfolios generate strong risk adjusted returns, meeting clients' expectations.
- You will also be dealing with Relationship Manager and Client queries, liaising with various areas such as Research, Product Development, and Operations teams.
- The successful candidate will also be required to assist in acquisition of new client business and creating investment proposals as necessary.
- You may also work closely with the product development team and research specialists and you should be able to demonstrate the ability to think laterally by identifying new strategy opportunities in the marketplace and communicating these to the appropriate product specialists to deliver optimal solutions where appropriate.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of current market events and drivers for all asset classes with a full understanding of the current strategic and tactical positioning of our Investment Strategy.
- The PM will actively participate, liaise with the team and research specialists, and contribute to various Asset Class Committees.
- By monitoring portfolios and updating them, based on market developments, the Job holder will also be required to suggest/apply changes to the investment process and deliver new solutions where appropriate by tailoring changes as required to portfolios that meet the criteria, also ensuring compliance best practise standards are met in concert with the wider business to ensure consistency.
- Manage portfolios maintaining and enhancing the principles of Treating Customers Fairly across all investment solutions and contributing to the improvement of internal processes, whilst maintaining a full grasp and understanding of relevant risk issues within the business.
- The successful candidate will also work towards global internal and external standards of client service, KYC and risk and compliance, pricing strategies and contributing to their development and ensure all mandates are within personal authorisations as per relevant business procedures.

- Confidence in dealing with people at various levels of the organisation, key stakeholders and clients with diverse needs and characteristics as this is a client-facing and sales role.
Core Requirements:
- Financial Industry experience is preferable. Familiarity with market information systems and technical systems with the likes of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Reuters, and Bloomberg will be favourably looked upon.
- Academic and Professional Qualifications
- A graduate, preferably studying for the required professional qualifications (e.g. CFA, SI Diploma) to demonstrate the intellectual capability for the role. Once fully qualified and signed-off, FSA registration for CF30 will be mandatory
- An ability to articulate succinctly and accurately investment ideas and be persuasive - be robust in championing views and challenging others. A second language is beneficial but not essential.
- Other transferrable professional qualifications will be considered on merit. If not already RDR compliant, the successful candidate will be expected to achieve the required standard within 12 months of starting.
