Portfolio Monitoring Analyst

The Portfolio Monitoring team provides essential daily trade analysis of managed fund positions to ensure their compliance against Regulatory, IMA, Prospectus and Internal guidelines. The monitoring ranges from counterparty exposure, instrument cover, permitted/non permitted instrument types to credit rating, spread and diversification rules.  A vacancy exists for an individual of high analytical, technical and numerical calibre to carry out the above task.
Principal Accountabilities
 
Portfolio Monitoring

·         Ensuring the monitoring of all IMA/Regulatory/client guidelines for funds under individual responsibility are captured in Portfolio Monitoring systems

·         On-going maintenance and improvement of the portfolio monitoring processes with a focus on standardisation and automation

Portfolio Monitoring Reporting

·         Timely daily review of all breaches and accurate interpretation

·         Timely escalation and resolution of portfolio breaches and fund manager warnings.

·         Timely and complete production and distribution of breach reports

·         Ensuring the Head of Portfolio Monitoring is kept informed of all progress and issues

Team Integration

·         Forming and maintaining effective working relationships with Portfolio Monitoring team members and other Risk analysts

·         Maintaining an open and effective dialogue with Fund Managers in relation to monitoring issues, reporting and client changes.

·         Forming a view as to the appropriateness of the data being captured and the quality of the supporting monitoring and reporting infrastructure.

Client service

·         Thorough review and interpretation of client guidelines into FOG document

·         Sign off processes and procedures followed

·         Desk review process followed, meetings scheduled and amendments completed in line with SLA’s

·         Development of key stakeholder working relationships

·         Knowledge of client products and rationale behind investment
Profile of Ideal Candidate
 
 
The successful candidate will have the following experience and skills:

Business

• An understanding of regulatory and fund level trade compliance rules

• Knowledge of UCITS and COLL regulatory framework preferable.

• Good understanding of investment management (front to back) but with specific experience of investment compliance gained from working for a major investment manager. Experience to include all major asset classes and their associated business processes.

• Demonstrable knowledge of all OTC derivatives desirable

Technical

• Knowledge of pre and post trade compliance systems

• Advanced Excel skills (macro’s/VBA) preferred.

• Exposure to systematic coding languages (SQL etc)

·         Good interpersonal skills - including verbal and written communication skills.

·         Strong communication skills – especially in relation to fund managers and client teams.

·         Determined, self-motivated and resourceful to achieve objectives

·         Ability to absorb, interpret, apply and communicate information effectively.
