ASIA EQUITY (EX JAPAN) GEM
The individual will be a team member of the Asia (ex Japan) and GEM Portfolio Specialist Team. Based in Hong Kong, the objective of the role is to communicate insight from the investment team to the rest of the world to support profitable growth of assets under management. The Asia GEM Equity team currently has funds under management of over USD 18 billion managed by 18 investment professionals headquartered in Singapore. Our clients are based in UK, Continental Europe, US and throughout Asia.
THE ROLE
The individual will be a team member of the Asia (ex Japan) GEM Portfolio Specialist Team. The objective of the role is to communicate insight from the investment team both internally and externally to support profitable growth of assets under management.
- The Asia GEM Portfolio Specialist Team is the primary communication channel of investment insight between the Asia GEM equity investment team and external clients.
- The Asia GEM Portfolio Specialist Team is embedded in the Asia GEM investment process to ensure the capture and dissemination of unique investment insight. The team works very closely with Asia GEM Equity fund managers who drive individual fund views and themes for the Asia Pacific (ex Japan) GEM regions. The Asia GEM Portfolio Specialist Team takes these views and presents them to clients in a concise, easily understood format.

- Internal clients include institutional sales, retail sales, and regional offices among other. External clients include institutions, wholesalers, private banks, financial advisers among others
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
This is an important role with a number of key responsibilities, including:
- The individual will be responsible for communicating investment insight for Greater China equity funds (China, Greater China, China-India and Hong Kong). They will have intimate knowledge of key aspects for each fund including: fund holdings, fund performance, investment mandate, risk characteristics, fund strategy, performance attribution, competitor analysis, profitability, sales strategy and more.
- The individual will generate and communicate the investment messages for responsible Asian Equity funds, and ensure needs of internal and external clients are met at all times.
- The individual will work closely with respective internal teams to help them prepare fund presentations for clients, consultants, distribution channels, and others.
- Being the sole member of the Portfolio Specialist team based in Hong Kong, the individual will also be expected to represent the Asia Equity team capability as needed.
EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND
- This is an important role that requires the individual to both work independently and also integrate within the Asia GEM Portfolio Specialist Team. The individual must be able to fulfill client needs and provide fund manager support. The ability to work closely with the Asia GEM fund managers is crucial for effective collaboration to ensure consistent and correct investment messages are communicated.
- The candidate should have at least 10 - 15 years of experience in the investment industry, with a strong understanding of the fund management business and Asian equity markets.
- The candidate should be confident in this external client facing role and possess excellent presentation and communication skills.
- The ability to operate in an unstructured environment with initiative and an enthusiastic “can-do” attitude will be a key skills required for the role.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly with external client materials is essential.
- Possessing a CFA would be an advantage.
This role is based in Hong Kong, an attractive localised package will be offered with the company supporting relocation.
