Post Masters Research Associate -Fisheries/Data Entry and Management (GRP)

Job Description Assist with research on effects of hydropower operations on survival of juvenile salmon through the hydro-power system. Responsibilities include management and manipulation of large datasets that contribute to a team effort to conduct very large fish passage and survival studies at Columbia River dams. These studies involve deploying, retrieving, and testing acoustic telemetry equipment, which acquire large amounts of data. Team members will help collect, process, and analyze acoustic tag detection data and help write reports. . Minimum Requirements Candidates must have received a Masters degree within the past two years from an accredited college or university. Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 required. Qualifications Candidates should have a strong science or computational background, the ability to handle and process large amounts of data efficiently to include; data storage, management, and analysis (MS Excel, hml, SAS, SQL). The candidate should have a bachelor s degree in statistics, engineering, biology or other computer-related field and recently completed a Master s degree program in a similar field of study. Proficient knowledge of data manipulation, management, and analysis is required. It is preferred that candidates have experience in technical report writing and presentation of resultant data. Desirable characteristics include attention to detail, the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, possession of a strong work ethic, and a willingness to work many extra hours and to travel to remote sites when necessary. .
