We are seeking an experienced Power and Controls Design Manager for our client to work on their technical design firm dedicated to serving today's fast paced, ever-changing engineering community. This is a permanent, full time opportunity. Our client offers an established rcord of design expertise, schedule control and cost containment with a commitment to total quality control on a global basis.

As the Power and Controls Design Manager you will be a key person in managing and designing their mechanical, power and control systems, project management and Information Systems.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements

•Associates / Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Technology
•Strong background in Machine controls, system integration, and machine safety concepts and applications (hardwired systems, PLC based systems, HMI, and different types of motion controls)
•Understanding of industrial power distribution systems, fault current calculations, SCCR, Flash hazard mitigation, and system installations
•Strong background understanding and applying NEC, NFPA 79, UL508, and OSHA regulations
•Strong background in material handling systems and applications
•Understand industrial machine operations and applications; mechanical and process
•Strong background working with different types of electrical documentation packages (JIC, IEC, Single Lines, Riser Diagrams, Layout diagrams)
•Strong background in pneumatic design relative to machine controls and material handling systems
•Exposure to process control diagrams, PID's, and basic piping layouts
•Proficient using Autocad, or other intelligent CAD software
•Proficient using Windows Office software (MS Project, Excel, Word)
•Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills
•A keen eye for detail and the reliability to meet scheduled deadlines

Responsibilities Include:

•Work with client to understand the goals of a specific project and translate scope of work into a scheduled design execution plan
•Communicate concerns and risks to client relative to requested work
•Generate a schedule and allocate the appropriate resources to execute the work
•Communicate scope of work and deliverables to the design team with the goal of mutual understanding
•Manage project funding and resources while tracking design progress vs. spending vs. budget
•Communicate ongoing spending to the client via accounting reports
•Manage changes to the original design execution plan with the client and design staff
•Coach designers and support projects technically as a consultant within the group
•Work with the mechanical design manager to coordinate staffing
•Conduct staffing reviews set goals for staffing
•Create staffing forecasts based on information provided by client
