FIXED INCOME, CURRENCIES COMMODITIES GROUP
The Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities Group (FICC) is involved in a broad range of financial markets trading activities. Its services range from 24-hour trading in most currencies and commodities to acquiring assets, (either companies, physical trading assets or derivative portfolios). In the EMEA region, FICC's major business activities are: Commodities (base and precious metals, oil, gas, power, coal, agricultural commodities, freight and environmental products), Futures (listed derivatives) execution and clearing, emerging markets (Bonds, Repos, FX) and debt arrangements. In selected markets, FICC is heavily involved in physical as well as financial products.
PURPOSE OF ROLE
The role is located within the Energy Markets division, specifically working as part of the Gas and Power Operations team. Working closely with the trading team, the Operations group is responsible for the management, monitoring and optimisation of Macquarie's gas and power portfolio in northern Europe. This encompasses the scheduling of gas and power for the trading and client business alongside dealing with a number of significant industrial and commercial customers. In addition to this daily activity, individuals will be required to participate and manage short-term projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be responsible for:
- Scheduling and dispatching of gas and electricity trading positions across northern Europe
- Day to day interface with transport system operators
- Customer interface and position management on behalf of Macquarie's retail gas supplier, Corona Energy
- The management and implementation of new business projects to expand the existing European energy business
KEY SKILLS ATTRIBUTES
- Experience within the Power sector is preferable
- Strong verbal ability, judgment and administrative skills
- Proven execution/outcome skills
- Proven ability to prioritise between detailed day to day activity, including problem-solving, and longer term activities and projects
- Proven ability to sustain high level of performance under pressure with short deadlines etc.
- Superior interpersonal and relationship building skills to build strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels, including with external parties
