Power & Gas Product Controller
Full Job Description
The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of Power Gas markets, strong understanding of derivative products, combined with a financial reporting and control mindset. They must be comfortable with complex structured transactions and have a strong understanding of the operational risks around the end to end product lifecycle. Communication skills are particularly essential as the candidate will have a lot of daily face to face interaction with a demanding front office and will need to co-ordinate relationships with Finance, Technology and Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily PL and Risk production for the Trading desk
- Understanding and Explaining PL residuals
- Client Value and Portfolio Management analysis
- Balance Sheet Monitoring, Analysis and Usage Review
- Continually challenging the business` Target Operating Model
- Implement improvements to the system infrastructure control environment
- Coordination with IB Ops, IB Tech and Finance on projects and issue resolution
- Month end management (PL forecasts, Interaction with Fair Value group)
- Quarterly Corporate external reporting
- Economic v GAAP differences
- New Business proposals
- Deliver support for new products and initiatives
Drive standardisation of process, application and data source.
Skills Required
- Associate with relevant experience within an Investment Bank.
- Strong Commodities knowledge. Specific Power Gas knowledge would be advantageous.
- Strong derivatives knowledge.
- Demonstrates very good Excel skills. VBA and Access knowledge is beneficial.
- Show interest and good understanding of the markets including the key drivers, pricing issues and trader strategies.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Pro-activity in identifying control gaps, defining resolution and taking to closure
- Ability to communicate effectively across the organization, both orally and in writing.
- Team Orientated and motivated self-starter with a positive "can do" attitude.
- Influencing skills to manage interaction with diverse groups internally and externally.
- A flexible proactive approach, ability to adapt to business change.
