Power System Engineer Job in Skåne Sweden


The Energy Department at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a " Power System Engineer".

Description of position/department
The ESS is implementing a unique energy concept called Responsible, Renewable and Recyclable meaning that the facility will be operated efficiently with renewable resources and recycle the heat that is generated. The Energy Division is devoted to the achievement of these goals. Additionally, the availability of the facility is highly dependent on the stability of energy systems. A fourth key word - Reliable - has therefore been added. The Energy Divisions works in three processes to achieve the energy goals, collaboration with and support of other departments on energy efficiency, conceptual design of site-wide energy systems and internal and external communication about the ESS Energy Concept.   

Description of main responsibilities
The Power System Engineer will lead the design update process for the power system of ESS to achieve maximum recycling, reliability and economy. The Power System Engineer is needed to co-ordinate the work with the site power system, including transformers from high voltage, high-voltage distribution, substations, voltage quality correction, and reserve power. 

To succeed, the Power System Engineer will need to leverage resources from collaborating partners and from other parts of the organisation and ensure the transfer of knowledge to the ESS organisation for construction and operation.Qualifications

The European Spallation Source ESS AB will design, build and operate a multi-disciplinary, large-scale research infrastructure based on the world’s most powerful neutron source. ESS will provide scientists with unique and powerful neutron scattering instruments for the study of a large range of materials – from polymers and pharmaceuticals to membranes and molecules. The ESS project is partnered by 17 European countries, and hosted by Sweden and Denmark. The ESS will be built in Lund, Sweden, by a collaboration of European scientists and engineers. ESS is planned to produce the first neutrons by 2019. When the facility is in full operation 2025, ESS has around 450 employees.
