Job Description
Toyota Motor Engineering Manufacturing North America, Inc (TEMA) is the alignment of Toyota's North American RD and manufacturing operations, joining the operations, planning and technical functions. Established in April 2006, TEMA strengthens Toyota's North American customer focus, through improved supplier cooperation, overall speed, flexibility and attention to quality. TEMA headquarters in Erlanger, KY, house the Toyota Operations Center and the Toyota Planning Center. The main offices for the Toyota Technical Center are in Ann Arbor and Saline, MI. The Powertrain noise and vibration CAE Engineer position is in the EDP department, located in Ann Arbor, MI.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Develop CAE tool and methodology (1D and 3D) to support engine design activities (examples: block, head, conrod, valvetrain, crankshaft and flywheel)
- Improve CAE accuracy and process in NVH area
- Identify input forces for various powertrain NV phenomena
- Optimize powertrain structure to meet the design target
- Generate CAD of other OEM's parts and evaluate the functions
- Conduct function tests to predict powertrain vibration and sound pressure
- Manage consultant projects and evaluate vendors' capability
- Document the calculation method
- Minimum 4 years experience in powertrain NVH
- Minimum Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- ProE (or similar CAD) experience required
- Powertrain design or powertrain experience preferred but not required
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Proficient with standard office computer software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Proficient with AMESIM, Hypermesh, SIMPACK, AVL EXCITE, NASTRAN, ModeFrontier, and LMS Virtual lab.
- Ability to travel to Japan 1~2 time/year with various trip lengths (1~2 weeks/trip)
