Job Responsibilities:
The Public Relations and Social Media Coordinator is responsible for maintenance and/or implementation of public relations and social media tactics that support the PetSmart brand. This position will assist in daily maintenance of social media properties and logistical support of public relations activities.

He/she must have strong interpersonal and collaborative skills and basic to intermediate analytical skills along with the ability to prioritize work effectively and manage simultaneous projects with appropriate direction and supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in the execution of public relations and social media plans designed to support the company initiatives, coordinating with other teams or departments effectively.
• Day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of social media properties, ensuring PetSmart voice, authenticity and messaging is supported and engaging pet parents.
• Draft social media posts and comment as well as support writing of some public relations materials, using AP Style for the latter.
• Be current on social media trends and new social media vehicles, and how they may be affecting our target audience’s social media usage and practices today and in the future.
• Monitor competitive social media campaigns and report to the rest of the Public Relations and Social Media team in a concise and timely manner so appropriate action can be taken.
• Assist in the public relations and social media support for critical new store openings and/or relocations through supporting tactical execution of plans.
• Assist Canadian and Puerto Rico marketing teams, as appropriate in public relations and social media strategy execution.
• Shares learning throughout Marketing and key cross-functional teams to grow overall company competency/knowledge base.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Marketing/Communications /Journalism / Business or related field from four year college or university and prefer one to three years related experience in an in-house public relations or marketing team or public relations agency.
