DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

This position is responsible for employing curricula that is developmentally appropriate and meets the needs of pre-school children, ages 3 - 5, from diverse backgrounds. This position establishes maintenance and management of a planned curriculum and classroom activities committed to guide the growth and development of the individual towards his/her highest potential. In addition, this position creates and maintains relationships with every child and family enrolled and assesses their needs. This position also evaluates the progress on an on-going basis and implements the necessary modifications, and makes sure required doc mentation is completed and complies with federal, state and agency standards. This position is required to write lesson plans, conduct parent/teacher conferences and home visits.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must possess an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood
   Education or a related field.
• Must possess or be working towards obtaining a Bachelor's 
   Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field to be
   earned by 2013, from an accredited college or university.
• Must have at least three (3) years experience working with
   pre-school children. 
• Must have a solid understanding of development
   throughout early childhood and knowledge of how to facilitate
   learning.
• Must be knowledgeable of the foundations, practices and goals
   of Head Start.
• Must be able to work effectively with other staff members and
   parents.
• Must appreciate cultural differences and respond to individual
   learning styles. 
• Must also have the ability to meet the academic, social and
   emotional needs of all children.
• Participate in all staff meetings, and In-Service training. 
• Must greet parents and children pleasantly and appropriately,
   ensuring a smooth transition into the classroom.
• Must be able to utilize a computer and Microsoft Office
   software.
• Possess a valid driver's license and automobile liability
   insurance.
• Must meet criteria for background screening as required for
   child care licensing and federal regulations.
• Must possess a certificate in Child/Infant CPR and First Aid.
