Job Description The Preventative Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing technical service on Preventative Maintenance calls, shuttling necessary parts and supplies for service repair completion for Repair Technicians and performing on-the-job training tasks when working with a Break Technician on call types. Responsibilities/Skills/Experience Requirements JOB RESPONSIBILITIES ?Performs Preventative Maintenance Checks in customers homes on residential heating and cooling equipment to include but not limited to gas/electric/oil furnaces, heat pumps, A/C systems, boilers, humidifiers, and air cleaning/purification systems. ?Performs preventive maintenance checks, and repairs on residential Water Heaters to include but not limited to gas/electric water heaters and hybrid water heaters as well. ? Performing timely and quality repairs necessary in resolving customer complaints ? Accurately diagnose and repair appliances/equipment in the customer?s home and give the customer an accurate estimate of the cost of repair if applicable ? Uses basic tools or instruments to assemble, adjust, calibrate, repair or test various products ? Work as a dedicated team member to ensure fast, flexible and expert service to every customer ? Maintain high level of customer satisfaction through efficient/timely customer resolution. ? Follow the Value Added Services Process (i.e., selling extended warranties, water filters, generating customer interest in new HVAC systems as appropriate, etc.) by effectively communicating the benefits to the customer ? Provide direction and mentor Preventative Maintenance Check Technician, as applicable ? Maintain the highest level of service standards and have open communication with District Technical Production Manager to assist as needed with resolving customer issues ? Recognize and act upon every opportunity to drive revenue through the Value Added Services Program (VASP). ? Maintain truck stock inventory and maintenance schedules are within the company guideline (i.e. wash truck weekly, oil changes etc.) and insure tools and equipment are in safe operating condition. ? Successfully complete all Break/Fix Technician training elements within required timeframes ? Perform related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Education/Training: ? High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred ? Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license per company policy ? State required certification and /or licenses as needed ? Graduation from trade school for HVAC + possess CFC certification Experience ? Min two years experience of basic electrical principles ? Ability to use the Sears Smart Toolbox (SST) to input, access, modify, or output information ? 2 years experience with reading, understanding and able to navigate through information presented in diagram, blueprints, or other pictorial displays on the laptop computer ? 2 Years experience using a laptop computer for service call processes, routing functions and parts/inquiries/ordering ? Ability to communicate, read, understand, and apply written text of a technical nature in order to answer questions, solve problems, or complete job tasks. Role specific abilities/skills ? Complete understanding of all tools, equipment and materials used to perform services on HVAC units. ? Ability to do off season installs (will be market based) ? Ability to read, write and speak English ? Ability to receive truck stock at home if a company vehicle is retained at the Break Fix Technician?s residence or other location. ? Ability to work variable and flexible hours, including significant overtime as needed along with overnight and Sunday service as needed ? Ability to handle stressful situations and work in a fast-paced environment ? Ability to follow appropriate industry specific regulations related to the handling of hazardous materials ? Ability to lift and carry up to 75lbs. ? Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, stretching, twisting, reaching and climbing. ? Ability to drive/travel long distances of 5 hours plus. ? Ability to drive in various weather conditions for long periods of time and in various demographic areas. ? Must be able to access interior and exterior landscapes. ? Ability to access different levels of terrain while performing duties Years Experience 2 - 5 Years Experience Preferred Minimum Education High School / GED
