Risk and Compliance provide risk and compliance services across all BNY Mellon businesses. Organizationally, Risk and Compliance includes the following groups: Risk Management, Compliance, Global Corporate Security, Information Risk Management and Global Business Continuity. Risk Management oversees and delivers risk services and ensures new business risks are reviewed and approved. Risk Management is organized through Chief Risk Offices for each core business and critical operation. Risk managers provide shared support to BNY Mellon for operational risk services for Global Corporate Trust, Depositary Receipts, Treasury Services and Global Operations in EMEA. Compliance helps ensure BNY Mellon's businesses maintain appropriate processes to comply with applicable laws, regulations, BNY Mellon policies and ethics. This is accomplished through business- and business partner-specific teams of professionals, under centralized global management.

Description

This position manages three activities: 1) Enterprise Risk Integration: Manages the identification, planning, organizing and implementation of complex strategic projects and programs (highly visible and business impacting initiatives that cross multiple disciplines, businesses, and/or organizations). Works closely with business and technology senior management to identify key risk areas and manages the development and deployment of projects to successfully address these areas. 2) Data Quality: Manages the identification and improvement of strategic business data for financial, regulatory, and risk reporting and for other key executive planning and decision-making functions. 3) Credit Risk Data Warehouse: Oversees the operations and ongoing development of the Bank s central Credit Risk Data Warehouse (CRDW). CRDW is the sole source of credit data for all regulatory reporting (including U.S. Basel II). The job requires managing relationships with over 30 evolving source systems and multiple downstream users. Manages multiple development projects, development groups and/or application support functions to support Basel II implementation. Position manages a world-wide organization and, therefore, requires travel. Extensive experience consulting with multiple clients and prior experience managing major impact projects and planning and tracking multiple complex projects. Must personally demonstrate accountability and responsibility for processes, team business unit and corporate results. Knowledge of Basel II regulatory requirements is essential to determine the required courses of action for regulatory reporting development. Knowledge of how others in the industry are solving Basel II related problems is also essential. As regulatory reporting touches all parts of the Bank, knowledge of and relationships across all credit generating businesses at the Bank are required. High level knowledge across various risk disciplines including credit, market and operational risk. Knowledge of key quality principles and their implications for financial data. Requires the ability to choose between solutions presented by staff to business problems at the highest level of complexity in areas calling for significantly innovative approaches. Must integrate development of many different business process and technology projects. Must ensure current and target state application architecture is aligned with regulatory requirements. Must compare application options according to function, technology and cost, and arrive at solutions. Projects will focus on developing new processes or identifying and developing global initiatives to grow and assimilate into the strategic business operation. Given the large scope of strategic projects typically assigned to this position the incumbent will have an impact on the business by influencing decisions through advice, counsel or facilitating services to others in area of specialization. Responsibilities include: Developing, guiding and directing projects typically staffed by cross-functional teams and may also include directly managing several project managers. Synthesizing and clearly presenting recommendations to facilitate a coherent decision making process. Working across business lines and shared services and with key business executives. Developing and implementing plans, working with all departments to execute. Executing and leading all aspects of project/business development management, against plan, including developing and tracking project team activities and deliverables. Periodically communicating strategy and vision to key stakeholders and ensuring alignment of strategy and execution. Focusing on building consensus and making progress through aggressive development of targeted deliverables. Maintaining a team-oriented working environment that promotes open discussion on important issues, a high level of personal commitment and accountability to the business, and a continued focus on quality and customer service. Excellent analytical skills as well as evaluative judgment based on the analysis of factual and qualitative information in complicated or novel situations. Results oriented with demonstrated ability to deliver results in a multitasking environment. Position affects entire business. In order for the Bank to make sound credit decisions, it will require the timely and accurate risk data provided by this organization. In order for the Bank to be allowed to operate by the regulators, the Bank must meet certain regulatory requirements. The ability of businesses around the Bank to report their risks to the regulators is dependent upon the systems developed in this organization. The Bank will use data generated by this organization to make timely and accurate financial reporting disclosures. Effective focus on change management. The jobholder must have the ability to work with senior and other management from an extensive number of business units around the Bank. Must coordinate between technology, more than 30 source systems and the businesses that post to them, regulatory reporting and the risk management organization, as well as auditors, project management offices, regulators and senior management. Skill required in team and relationship building with the ability to manage and develop staff in multiple locations.

Qualifications

Exceptional team player that works well in collaborative situations and start-up environments across lines of business and shared services. Experience in structuring and negotiating partnerships. MBA. 18 years experience. 20 years preferred.
