Job Responsibilities:

• A Principal Auditor within the Tokyo Audit CIB team reports into a global Principal IT Audit Manager (PAM) in London, who in turn reports into the Chief Auditor (CA). The CA has global responsibility. The candidate will also have a reporting line to the Group Audit Japan Country Head.

• The candidate will be required to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls relating to risks involved in the relevant business areas in accordance with Group Audit Methodology and the established risk assessment framework.

• The candidate will contribute to Risk Assessment Profiles / Business Monitoring and overall implementation of Group Audit Methodology.

• The candidate will be required to lead and successfully deliver Technology audits, or participate in Integrated Business and Technology audits both locally and globally.

• The candidate will be required to generate draft audit reports for review by senior Group Audit management and to facilitate issue tracking and validate closure of issues.

• The candidate will be required to complete all work assigned to them on a timely basis. This may also include ad hoc projects and special investigations.

• The candidate will be required to proactively develop and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, the business and respective support areas. They will work in an integrated manner with fellow team members both locally and globally.

• They will understand the client’s marketplace and respond to expectations and will continue to develop technical expertise relevant to the industry.

• Whilst the majority of the audit work is based in Japan, as part of a global team, some travel may be required.

Key Competencies:

• We are seeking a senior audit professional who is a self starter and is able to operate at senior levels within the Bank.

• The candidate will have significant exposure to investment banking clients and a robust knowledge of auditing capital markets processing. (This could include trading of debt instruments or equity products).

• The candidate will have significant, demonstrable experience of IT auditing in an investment banking context (e.g. audits of automated business controls and of the implementation of new banking systems).

• Experience of audits of IT general controls is a pre-requisite and CISA certification an advantage.

• The candidate should be conversant with risk based auditing and should clearly understand the relationship between IT risk and underlying business risk.

• The candidate should be flexible, pro-active and self sufficient with strong organizational skills to take ownership of agreed targets to enable efficient completion of audit projects. They will be a natural role model and reference point for their peer group.

• The candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have an innovative mindset and can develop ideas, which are implemented and have a positive impact. He/she will be able to multi-task assignments and prioritise their workload with limited supervision and be resilient under pressure and be able to deliver to deadlines.

• The candidate should have excellent written/verbal communication skills and be able to communicate effectively at all levels within Group Audit and with the client.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Experience of business processes and auditing of IT applications supporting trading and trade processing lifecycle for instruments including; interest rate products, credit products, commodities, futures and foreign exchange.

• Able to read and speak Japanese fluently.
