Role Overview
The Natural Resources team is comprised of 25 professionals, based in London and across the network of Resident Offices.
A Principal Banker is sought, with a proven track record, to play a leading role in structuring and closing transactions in both the public and private sectors, using the full range of financing structures available to the Bank. In addition, the Principal Banker will be required to assist in the marketing of the Bank's services to companies in the natural resources sector. The focus of this role will be primarily in the Ukraine.
The Banker will be based in Kyiv and will report to the Director Natural Resources based in London HQ.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
· Working throughout the whole life cycle of projects. This will be accomplished through assisting with and gradually taking more individual responsibility for marketing, project screening, origination, due diligence, structuring, negotiation, preparation, monitoring of projects and execution
· Be responsible for the technical preparation, appraisal, and implementation of investment projects, and be familiar with the financial structuring of projects, including the use of guarantees.
· Credit and financial aspects of project development, including financial analysis of companies, production of financial projections and cash-flow models.
· Participate in monitoring of existing investments, including preparation of regular monitoring reports based on meetings with clients, site visits, financial review and other research.
· Collection and analysis of project information through research, due diligence and independent inquiry.
· An important component of the job will be to participate in the work of the Team, and to ensure guidance of junior bankers and analysts
Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
· Minimum of 7 years of investment banking/project finance experience, from a major international financial institution where he/she must have acquired high level banking/transaction skills and demonstrable expertise in structuring deals / operations
· Experience in the oil gas and/or mining sectors and a successful track record in origination, structuring, closing, implementing and monitoring transactions.
· Knowledge of the financial aspects of investments, proven track record or demonstrable potential for being a 'deal maker' and project generator.
· Credit analysis skills: ability to interpret accounts, understanding accounting principles and practice of credit analysis.
· Financial analysis skills: ability to design financial models; identify, understand and help solve complex issues; good knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS accounting.
· Sound understanding of business principles. Understanding of the policy issues in the natural resources sector would be an advantage.
· Good relevant degree from a leading university in the country of education (e.g. business administration, economics, finance).
· Computer literacy with excellent Excel skills.
· Fluent written and spoken English is essential.
Desirable
· Previous experience in the oil gas and / or mining sectors specifically in the Ukraine and other EBRD countries of operation, for both the private and public sectors
· Fluency in Ukrainian and/or Russian would be highly desirable.

· Flexible in working hours and willingness to travel to and work in other EBRD countries of operation.
