The Principal Business Consulting role provides presales technical, business and industry support to the AspenTech Sales and Services team. It is a customer-facing role that requires self-motivated individuals with excellent business, technical and industry knowledge along with strong consultative and communication skills to position AspenTech solutions and services with our customers.The role involves working with the sales organization to identify business improvement opportunities within the supply chain of customer accounts and determining how AspenTech products can be leveraged to provide a value-based solution. The roles supports the sales process through development of a customer-focused benefits analysis and value propositions based on AspenTech solutions. This individual will be responsible for managing assigned accounts, new sales opportunities and our relationships with customers in order to maximize sales and service revenues. It will require travel, both domestic and international, up to 50% of time on average.
Responsibilities:
- Actively support sales to Pharmaceutical and Life Science customers (the territory) while meeting revenue, growth, pipeline and productivity targets.
- Accountable for leading technical sales support for the assigned key account opportunities in the territory to maximize sales and service revenues.
- Accountable to consult with customers and advise on the relevant AspenTech solutions, services and establish a credible value proposition.
- Proactively support pipeline development (e.g. account planning, awareness sessions, etc) and sales execution in the assigned accounts and opportunities.
- Accountable for assigned RFI/RFQ/RFP responses and creation and management of the solution proposal and technical attachments for assigned services proposals.
- Accountable for achieving personal targets such as productivity, bookings and other BC related targets.
- Responsible for the disciplined use of sales processes, internal processes and operating policies to meet the objectives of the company.
- B.S. (M.S. preferred) in Engineering or Operations Research required with a minimum of 8 years practical experience in presales consulting, supply chain software solutions, or the pharmaceutical/life science industry.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in supply chain management consulting; experience and expertise with finite capacity planning and scheduling is highly desirable.
- Deep knowledge of supply chain business processes and enabling technologies.
- Understanding of pharmaceutical and life science industries supply chain problems, specifically related to complex scheduling challenges in biopharm and life science companies.
- Strong business acumen, with ability to assess and articulate customer value creation.
- Capable of developing detailed product demonstrations of Supply Chain software solutions for customers.
- Flexibility to travel (30-50% of time).
- Pharmaceutical or life science industry experience preferred
