Principal Engineer

The successful candidate for this position is required to provide hands-on technical leadership to primary container design, qualification, characterization for aseptic filling, lyophilization, and inspection operations for the manufacture of commercial and pipeline biopharmaceuticals.

Job responsibilities will be primarily focused on characterization of mechanical interfaces / interactions of primary containers with aseptic fill finish machines and infusion devices, development of test methods for mechanical and material properties of primary containers. This role will be required to collaborate extensively with external suppliers and internal cross-function teams including RD, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory.

The candidate must possess demonstrated expertise in applying fundamental engineering principles to the mechanical design and implementation of primary containers in aseptic processes, integration with infusion devices, with particular emphasis on material and mechanical properties of primary containers. This role will require knowledge and hands-on experience of materials characterization methods, fracture mechanics, glass formation processes, injection molding of plastics, automation and robotics. This role will leverage project management skills and the ability to coordinate and communicate across different functions and sites in order to successfully complete projects.

This position may have supervisory opportunities and responsibilities for technical personnel.
This position will report to the leader of the Syringe Technology Platform Systems and will be located in Thousand Oaks California. Significant domestic and international travel will be required during various phases of the project.
