Opportunity
Parsons is seeking electrical engineers with significant experience in TD engineering and design. Specifically, we are looking for subject matter experts to serve as a Principal Engineer and provide outstanding technical leadership to our team of professionals engaged in substation protection and controls engineering and design for major electric utility clients.  This position can be based out of Charlotte, NC, Boston, MA, or Pasadena, CA.
   
Need
As a Principal Electrical Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for the substation protection and controls from the initial conceptual / feasibility study and cost estimating phase through detailed design, installation, and startup phases.  As such you will plan, direct, and supervise the work of our electrical engineers and designers engaged in delivering the protection and controls design and installation of new and modified high voltage substation systems and equipment.  The work will entail preparing protection, metering, and control schemes and drawings for substation equipment including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear buses, and transmission lines. The specific drawing deliverables will include protective relaying, metering and control single line diagrams, three line diagrams, DC control and interlocking diagrams, protective relaying and control cabinet layout, bill of material and internal wiring diagrams. This position also entails the preparation of substation protection and controls equipment procurement, installation, and testing specifications, bid documents, bid evaluations, and contract management. You will apply your knowledge of substation protection, coordination, control, and metering techniques and discrete and multifunction electronic metering and relaying systems.
 
This position also will require participation in proposal development and client business development presentations and meetings. Projects many include integrating sustainable energy generation power sources such as solar photovoltaic and wind turbines to substations. You will assure the electrical design is compliant all applicable codes and regulations and stamp your engineering seal and signature when required by statute or contract.

• 15 years of professional experience in electrical utility TD substation equipment and systems protection and control.
• Extensive and current substation (up to 500KV) design deliverable experience including single line diagrams, protective relaying, metering and control single line diagrams, three line diagrams, DC control and interlocking diagrams, protective relaying and control cabinet layout, bill of material and internal wiring diagrams, and equipment specification and procurement.
• Proven management of substation engineering and design teams.
• Extensive knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, IEC, NERC/RFC as well as applicable NFPA/NEC codes.
• BS in electrical engineering – power systems with MS in electrical engineering – power systems preferred.
• Electrical engineering PE is required, NCEES registration is preferred.
