Principal, Equity Research- Consumer recruitment

OMERS Capital Markets (OCM), a division of OMERS Administration Corporation manages OMERS public market investments, which include Canadian and non-Canadian investments in bonds, other interest bearing assets and publicly traded equities.  As one of Canada's largest pension plans, OMERS provides pension services to more than 400,000 active and retired members and over 900 employers.  OMERS has over $55.0 billion dollars in assets under management invested in four asset classes: public markets, private equity, infrastructure and real estate. Approximately 58.0% of those assets are invested within OMERS Capital Markets.

SCOPE OF POSITION

Reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Equities, the Principal, Equity Research (Consumer) will be responsible for generating action oriented investment recommendations in the global Consumer sector. The selected candidate will perform in-depth industry and company analysis, including detailed financial models and valuation analyses within the Consumer sector. The Principal’s role is multi-dimensional, and the ideal candidate will be responsible for building and mentoring an outstanding team of research professionals while managing a global Consumer sector portfolio.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Generate high impact, successful investment ideas through superior research and analysis in the Consumer sector on a global basis.

• Conduct company and industry analysis, financial modeling and forecasting, valuation and the production of in-depth research and investment recommendations.

• Proactively communicate investment ideas by initiating discussions with Portfolio Managers, Director of Research and the Head of Equities.

• Manage a team of Associates to support the development and enhanced performance of the Consumer sector.

• Responsible for significant portfolio management, risk management, external manager management and research coverage of the global Consumer sector.

• Prepare written reports, evaluations and analyses.

• Assist in the development and training of an outstanding team of research professionals.

• Serve as the OMERS-wide thought leader for the Consumer sector.

• Other responsibilities that will support the strategic direction of the Business Plan.

QUALIFICATIONS

• University degree in a related discipline. CFA and/or masters in a related discipline preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years (10 years preferred) of relevant, fundamental equity analysis experience, with at least 5 years experience covering the Consumer sector

• Extensive knowledge of the Consumer sector

• Superior financial analysis, modeling and valuation skills

• Deep knowledge of valuation and equity markets with a demonstrated passion for investing

• Excellent analytical skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong team player and highly developed interpersonal and relationship management skills

• An action-oriented approach with a high degree of initiative and ability to deliver results
