Senior Accounting Associate/ Financial Analyst

Performs the most complex research and analysis to provide senior management with analytical/technical support and advice related to the Corporation's financial performance, business operating and strategic plans and critical financial management issues. Provides leadership and direction to financial analysts in special projects and ongoing assignments in financial accounting and reporting, planning and analysis. Requires knowledge of advanced accounting and finance concepts and analysis techniques, and the ability to apply them creatively to the most complex projects.

The primary purpose / function of this job is to provide for the overall management and maintenance of complex margin / credit interest participation payments to IBDs, processing month-end accrual entries, preparing NII / NIR forecasts and monthly and quarterly balance sheet and NII / NIR financial reporting packages.

Requires rapid learning of products, processes and various technologies (PeopleSoft general ledger, Hyperion Financial Management system, Cartesis, etc) including the ability to develop sophisticated analytical reports. Associate will be a part of a small group of associates responsible for performing key functions and affecting Company's books and records. Attention to detail, high level of accuracy and ability to act promptly are essential to successful problem solving.

The expected margin of error is zero when computing or processing large payments to IBDs. Significant under / overstatement of month-end accruals, if undetected, can cause fluctuation in Pershing's net operating results. The person will be communicating with associates in far-flung areas with vastly different time-zones, especially around critical monthly processing periods. In addition to becoming proficient in use of technology (Excel, Access, and various other Pershing / BNYM systems), the job requires associate to manage his / her work schedule when systems / reports are available. Associate must be a self-starter (be able to work with minimum supervision), creative in time-management and be able to work in an unstructured environment.

Qualifications

Typical training includes a MBA or CPA with 7 years related experience. The ability to provide supervisory direction and technical guidance to other levels of experienced analysts is important. Developed skills in communicating complex financial data in written and oral form, the ability to design sophisticated analytical/computer methodologies, and to work in an unstructured environment are important.

Analyzing / implementing complex interest revenue sharing arrangements, computing broker-dealer share and processing payments on a monthly basis
Performing month-end net interest income / financial close
Preparing / analyzing daily cash flow statements
Preparing net interest income forecasts and budgets
All other functions including reviewing work of three Chennai associates, interest billing system re-engineering / testing efforts, work with internal / external auditors and SOX team, and work on ad hoc projects
