Principal – Risk Mgmt Services recruitment

Responsibilities
- Lead an organization of consultants. Attract, retain, develop and motivate a team of highly qualified professionals, including experienced consultants as well as novices. Provide leadership and guidance to individual staff members and ensure that revenue and utilization targets are met.
- Build and maintain a professional network of credit professionals. Nurture and develop meaningful relationships with decision makers and thought leaders across the financial community. Draw upon those relationships to help build the RMS business, for purposes of recruiting, business development, and strategic alliances.
- Lead business development efforts. Lead sales efforts. Meet with prospective clients to share expertise, recommend solutions, and scope out projects. Oversee the development of proposals, pitch presentations, and contracts. Set prices and negotiate terms. Execute against financial targets.
- Oversee relationships with clients. Acquire, nurture, and grow client relationships. Lead senior-level discussions with clients. Take ultimate accountability for client satisfaction and ensure delivery against contract requirements. Position Moody's for follow-up assignments.
- Provide thought leadership to clients. Help diagnose and evaluate clients? issues and concerns. Draw upon expertise, experience, and knowledge of 'best practice' to formulate high impact solutions that conform to clients expectations for time and budget.
- Provide expert guidance to consulting teams. Review proposals, project plans, and analytical outputs and suggest alternative approaches. Work with engagement managers to review and fine tune the scope of consulting engagements. Set expectations for quality. Manage and resolve issues, providing relevant guidance and specific remedies to consulting teams.
- Act as an ambassador of Moody's to outside audiences. Represent RMS at trade shows and conferences and through written submissions to leading journals, newspapers, and trade magazines. Present original content at various Moody's-sponsored events throughout the year.
- Develop intellectual capital as well as new service offerings. Identify topics of interest to clients and harvest ideas from prior projects. Oversee the production of white papers and presentations. Plan and implement compelling and pragmatic service offerings to address evolving client needs.

Qualifications
- Minimum 10-15 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 3-5 years at a top-tier consulting firm or at a blue chip financial services company
- Track record of leading at least 15 substantial projects of moderate to advanced complexity for companies in the financial services sector
- Track record of building and/or leading high performing teams of professionals
- Experience developing external relationships (i.e., with clients, strategic partners, etc.) and/or developing proposals for large scale projects
- Experience scoping, planning, and costing complex projects
- Experience interacting with senior executives (i.e., SVP or MD level and above
- Advanced technical understanding of debt instruments, commercial lending, underwriting processes, securities pricing, and/or capital allocation - evidence of thought leadership a plus (e.g., published articles) especially with respect to quantitatively complex topics
- Experience with Basel, Solvency II, or IFRS a plus
- Minimum master's degree or equivalent from an internationally recognized institution
- CPA, CFA, PRM, or FRM a plus
- International experience a plus
- Strong client-orientation with demonstrated commitment to client satisfaction
- Proven ability to establish and grow client relationships
- Outstanding communication skills - ability to communicate effectively with senior executives
- Well-rounded understanding of finance and credit - ability to converse about a broad range of topics including recent advances in credit risk measurement and management
- Broad understanding of the competitive landscape for products and services targeted at practitioners of financial risk management
- Strong, proven analytical skills with ability to quickly discern the quality of analytical work
- Strong evidence of being self disciplined, highly organized, able to multi-task, and attentive to detail
- Willingness to travel - domestically and internationally - approximately 40-60% of the time, with necessary clearances / permissions for travel outside the United States
- Minimum fluency in English; Working knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese a plus
