Principal Software Engineer
Job Description:
As part of a multi-disciplined team, Hardware-in-the-Loop software engineers support all aspects of the software life-cycle in development of Software Engineering Workstations (SWES), Computer in the Loop (CIL), and Hardware in the Loop (HIL) test stations. This includes software design, development, integration, and test of high and low level software components.
The software engineer provides solutions to complex technical software problems using ingenuity and innovation, provides guidance to junior staff and reviews software products for soundness of technical judgment and adequacy. The software engineer will work under general supervision and will support product deliveries with tasks such as creating software modules, modifying code based on engineering change notices and, assist in integration and troubleshooting while adhering to defined development processes.
The software engineer will be required to produce documentation related to the design and release of software artifacts and is expected to give formal and informal presentations to senior software personnel. Additionally, the software engineer follows and/or recommends changes to department processes and procedures.
Required Skills:
- Must be proficient in C/C++ and have a minimum of 8 years practical experience using either or both of these languages
- Must have good interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills
- Must have a demonstrated ability to manage time and resources to meet assigned deadlines
- Candidate must have good communication skills and a strong desire to learn and contribute in a teaming environment.
- Must be able to obtain Secret security clearance.
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of simulations, 6DOF, Missile Guidance, Navigation, Radar and Discrimination systems
- Experience with developing software within a DoD environment
- Real-time simulation experience in a Unix/Linux environment
- Low-level interface software (i.e. drivers) development/integration/Test
- Experience with Synergy change management
- Experience in software engineering requirements analysis, design, code, unit test, software troubleshooting / debugging
- Familiarity developing for and integrating with electronics hardware such as digital, serial, D/A A/D, 1553, FPGA, PCI/PCIe, and other computer interfaces
- Knowledge of modeling and scene generation
- Some assignments are available for 2nd and 3rd shifts
