Principal Stress Engineer Job in Wolverhampton, Midlands UK

Role Summary: 

Goodrich Actuation Systems requires a Stress Engineer to work within a multi-disciplinary team of project engineers, technical specialists and technical leads.

Principal Accountabilities:

Accountable to the appropriate Technical Lead for the timely delivery of project deliverables including: -
Design and detail stress calculations.
Input to the definition of design schemes and detail drawings.
Documentation including stress plans and stress reports.

Accountable to the Chief Stress Engineer for the quality and completeness of analysis and related documentation and stress approvals.

* Tasks will include the project and detail stress analysis of components including Hydraulic Pressure Vessels and Control Units, Housings, Piston Rods, Gears, Bearings, Shafts and Ball-Screws.
* Project involvement may include the analysis of primary and secondary flight controls including hydraulic, geared, mechanical and electro-mechanical actuators.
* Required to produce load analyses, stress calculations, engineering documentation including stress plans and stress reports. Will have an input to development and qualification testing. 

Basic Qualifications: 

* Preferably Degree Qualified in Mechanical Engineering, similar engineering or science subject, possessing aircraft actuation product knowledge.
* Experience of stress analysis including the preparation of classical `hand' calculations, PC based analysis tools and finite element analysis.
* Knowledge of structures, hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical actuation systems.
* Knowledge of materials; their mechanical, static and fatigue properties.
* Understanding of the influence of manufacturing processes on the strength of components.
* Analytical, problem solving approach.
